ystem One is seeking experienced Nuclear I&C Engineers (Engineer V level) to support major nuclear power plant upgrades and modernization efforts across multiple sites.
This role requires deep expertise in instrumentation & control systems, including both legacy analog systems and modern digital control platforms. Candidates will lead design activities, develop modification packages, and support plant improvements focused on safety, reliability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead engineering and design activities for I&C system upgrades and modifications
Develop engineering specifications, design criteria, and modification packages
Define I&C system scope, including:
Control system architectures
Instrumentation selection
Control valves and I/O interfaces
Design and implement digital and analog control system strategies
Ensure compliance with NRC regulations and nuclear industry codes and standards
Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and technical documentation
Interface with cross-disciplinary teams, vendors, and client stakeholders
Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
Perform plant walkdowns and field support activities as required
Required Qualifications
B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, Computer, or Controls Engineering (ABET accredited)
18+ years of experience, including:
8+ years in the nuclear power industry
Strong experience with:
Instrumentation & Control systems (I&C)
Digital control systems and legacy analog systems
Experience with:
Engineering design and modification packages
Nuclear plant procedures, processes, and licensing
Knowledge of NRC regulations and applicable industry codes/standards
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access
Ability to pass background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
M.S. in Engineering (relevant discipline)
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Direct field experience on nuclear plant projects
Experience supporting plant modernization or digital upgrades
Additional Requirements
Willingness to work onsite (non-remote role)
Ability to travel to nuclear plant sites as needed
Ability to perform field walkdowns, including:
Climbing ladders
Accessing confined spaces
Working in controlled/hazardous environments
Overtime may be required based on project needs
Locations:
Perry Nuclear Power Plant – Perry, OH
Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station – Oak Harbor, OH
Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station – Hookstown, PA
Duration: 12+ month contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: ~$115/hr (DOE)
Per Diem: Available (site-specific, TBD)
Travel: Required
Work Type: Onsite (No remote)
Must be a U.S. Citizen (nuclear regulatory requirement)
