Position Description:
We are seeking a Construction Manager - General Projects to support Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) at the Kingston Fossil Plant in Harriman, TN. This role sits within TVA's Generation Outage & Project Services business unit and is focused on delivering safe, on-schedule, and cost-effective execution of general plant construction and maintenance projects.
TVA health and safety procedures / policies and processes are performed, personnel supervised are Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) 10 trained as a minimum, and have proper tools needed to perform to work safely and efficiently, development of training matrix and checklist to comply with TVA safety manual is performed, ensuring appropriate behavior based safety and environmental programs/plans are fully implemented and ensures communication, quality, cost-effectiveness, timely completion, and performance of each project assigned is performed.
• Lead construction management activities for general plant projects, ensuring alignment with TVA standards, site procedures, and safety requirements
• Develop, manage, and optimize outage and maintenance project schedules, coordinating across multiple work fronts simultaneously
• Oversee contractor performance in the field, ensuring compliance with scope, quality standards, and site safety protocols
• Monitor project budgets and cost performance, identifying variances early and driving corrective action as needed
• Serve as the primary point of contact between TVA project stakeholders and contractor teams throughout execution
• Coordinate with plant operations, engineering, and maintenance groups to minimize operational impacts during outage and project windows
• Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, schedule updates, RFIs, and punch lists
• Support risk identification and mitigation planning throughout the project lifecycle
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in construction management, with demonstrated experience in outage planning and/or maintenance project execution
• Prior utility or power generation experience strongly preferred; fossil/thermal plant background is a plus
• Proven track record managing contractors in a field environment, including scope oversight, safety compliance, and performance accountability
• Proficiency in project scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or equivalent); working knowledge of cost tracking and reporting systems
• Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced plant environment
• PMP certification or equivalent project management credential is a plus
Physical Requirements: Must be capable of climbing, walking, kneeling, bending, and lifting as part of daily job responsibilities. Ability to lift a minimum of 35 - 60 lbs.
