Job Description
This engineer will play a crucial role in providing design engineering support, collaborating with vendor organizations to drive efficient Reactor Pressure Vessel, Internals, and Mechanical Containment Penetration design, manufacturing, and testing. The Engineer will develop design specifications, create, and mature design concepts, provide procurement support, generate drawings and design documentation, and provide testing oversight. This position requires interfacing with Business Project Managers, Technical Project Engineers, Sourcing, equipment manufacturers, and engineering teams within partner companies.
Responsibilities
Lead Mechanical Component Design activities, focusing on BWR Equipment, BWR Internal Components, and Plant Servicing Equipment Design.
Support fabrication and installation processes and oversee mechanical component testing.
Ensure accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks.
Provide technical guidance, lead project scheduling and resource planning, and mentor developing talent.
Act as the point-of-contact between the engineering team and both internal and external customers.
Operate in a matrixed engineering team to ensure high-quality deliverables in accordance with customer requirements and regulatory guidelines.
Lead the analysis, design, testing, and integration of mechanical components to meet business standards and program requirements.
Perform fundamental engineering hand calculations and modeling.
Prepare and present design reviews and technical reports to customers.
Facilitate discussions to promote open dialogue and effective teamwork.
Collaborate with experts to ensure product designs meet all intended application and design requirements.
Work closely with Sourcing and Fabricators to provide technical support.
Prepare invention disclosures to protect business technology.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
8-10 years of experience in design activities within a fabrication or manufacturing industry, with at least 4 years related to nuclear.
At least 4 years of experience in Section 3 of nuclear industry standards.
Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and Inventor or similar CAD software.
Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in the energy business, preferably nuclear.
Minimum of 2 years in a program or technical leadership role.
Minimum of 2 years working with customers, regulators, and suppliers.
9+ years of experience with industry standards such as AWS and BWRVIP.
Prior nuclear industry experience, including Boiling Water Reactors (BWR) and Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR).
Experience with the selection and use of lifting and rigging equipment.
Experience troubleshooting equipment and implementing changes.
Knowledge of modern fabrication processes, welding, and material selection.
Experience with a variety of fabrication techniques.
Familiarity with Lean practices.
Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and product lifecycle management software.
Strong leadership skills and strategic thinking.

This position offers a fully remote work environment, heavily focused on research and development. The role involves design basis work, requiring collaboration across various teams and vendors.
