Immediate openings for Temporary Radiation Protection Technicians to begin immediately at the GE Vernova Facility in Wilmington, NC.

Temporary Radiation Protection Technician (RPT)
Location: GE Vernova Facility - Wilmington, NC — GVH/GNF-A, FMO and/or WFSC
Employment Type: Temporary Assignment (Non Permanent Position)
Per Diem: Those over 50 miles from site location are eligible for per diem.
Pay: Commensurate with background and experience

Position Summary
The Temporary Radiation Protection Technician (RPT) will provide radiological monitoring and safety support for operations involving radioactive and/or fissile materials across GE Wilmington facilities, including FMO, and WFSC. This is not a permanent role; the position is intended to support short term operational needs, personnel shortages, or project specific coverage.
Core technical expectations remain consistent with responsibilities described in GVH/GNF A Radiation Protection Monitor roles and GVH/GNF-A radiation protection qualification standards.

Key Responsibilities
Radiological Monitoring & Field Support
• Conduct routine surveys of radiologically controlled areas using fixed and portable dose rate and contamination survey instruments.
• Perform inspections of operations involving radioactive or fissile materials to ensure compliance with nuclear safety criteria and license conditions.
• Perform air sampling, evaluate airborne conditions, identify abnormalities, and work with operations to correct them.
• Provide job coverage support for maintenance, operational activities, or special projects requiring radiological oversight.
Radiological Control Documentation
• Document contamination surveys, dose rate data, air sample results, and compliance records.
• Review monitoring data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and site procedures.
Regulatory & Program Compliance
• Support temporary implementation of required radiation protection programs, including waste handling, instrument checks, and dosimetry issuance.
• Apply site specific nuclear safety and radiation protection criteria in accordance with GVH/GNF A procedures.
• Maintain qualification competencies aligned with GVH/GNF-A Radiation Protection standards as applicable.
Worker Support & Training
• Conduct pre job briefings for radiation workers regarding hazards and protective measures.
• Promote safe work practices and professional radiological conduct while supporting temporary staffing needs.

Qualifications
Required
• High school diploma or equivalent (consistent with GVH/GNF-A requirements).
• Minimum 1 year of radiation protection, experience.
• Ability to qualify under site specific radiation protection training requirements.
• Ability to work in radiologically controlled and airborne control areas.
Preferred
• Experience in nuclear fuel manufacturing or similar regulated environments.
• Familiarity with SNM 1097 license requirements and GVH/GNF A administrative procedures.
• Experience with air monitoring systems or radiological emergency response.

Work Environment & Temporary Schedule
• Work locations include controlled areas within FMO, and WFSC.
• Temporary assignment duration may vary depending on site needs, project work, or staffing gaps.
• Hours may align with 1st shift or project based schedules, similar to GVH/GNF-A posted RPM roles that may require various shifts.
