SAP Subject Matter Expert

Position Overview
NRG Energy is seeking an experienced SAP Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support work management and plant maintenance functions across its generation fleet. This role will serve as a key resource for optimizing SAP PM processes, improving data integrity, and supporting system integration across operational sites.

A key focus of this role includes supporting integration between SAP and legacy CMMS platforms (e.g., Maximo), ensuring accurate and efficient data flow across systems and assets.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the SAP PM / Work Management SME supporting plant operations and maintenance teams
• Provide troubleshooting and issue resolution across SAP modules (PM, MM, work orders, master data)
• Lead or support SAP implementations, upgrades, and system enhancements
• Drive process standardization and continuous improvement across multiple assets
• Analyze SAP data using tools such as Power BI, Databricks, or similar platforms
• Support integration between SAP and other enterprise systems
• Partner with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to improve work execution efficiency
• Provide training and guidance to end users and site personnel
Additional Key Focus - SAP & Maximo Integration
• Provide expertise in both SAP and Maximo environments, particularly in data integration and transition scenarios
• Support data mapping, validation, and reconciliation between legacy CMMS (Maximo) and SAP systems
• Identify and resolve data inconsistencies across plant systems, including work orders, asset hierarchies, and maintenance records
• Assist in system migration efforts, data cleanup, and platform optimization initiatives
• Collaborate with IT and operations teams to improve data flow, reporting accuracy, and system interoperability
Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience working within SAP environments, with deep expertise in SAP Plant Maintenance (PM)
• Proven experience as an SAP SME in asset-heavy industries (power generation, oil & gas, utilities, or industrial)
• Experience supporting work management processes and maintenance operations
• Strong background in system implementations, migrations, or process transformation initiatives
• Experience with data analytics and reporting tools (Power BI, Databricks, etc.) preferred
• Ability to work cross-functionally with both technical teams and operational stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in power generation or utility environments
• Prior experience supporting multi-site or fleet-wide operations
• Demonstrated experience in CMMS transitions (e.g., Maximo to SAP)
• Background in data integration, system interoperability, or enterprise asset management systems
