Talascend is currently seeking a Nuclear Cyber Security Systems Architect for a remote, contract opportunity with our client.

Overview

this role involves acting as the cyber security systems architect for sodium fast reactor technologies, including responsibility for physical security systems design, prototype development, system testing, plant level integration, and commissioning. the position requires interfacing with scientists and engineers across various locations and integrating custom instrumentation with advanced control systems for generation iv reactor technologies.

Responsibilities

interface and support geographically diverse and international design team members to develop design documentation
lead the design of cyber security control implementation and supporting digital systems from system requirements through final design
develop and review plant communication systems and component-level specifications
perform evaluations in application of nuclear codes, standards, licensing requirements, and regulations
provide technical guidance to engineers on physical security design standards
specify and describe digital asset control implementation techniques
analyze and apply regulatory criteria to complex instrumentation and control digital system architectures
develop and review technical design documents such as system requirements and interface control documents
Create and manage drawing packages, including P&IDs, control system architecture diagrams, and instrument installation drawings
generate integrated design packages for security systems and communication sub-systems
provide technical oversight of supplier projects, ensuring deliverables meet requirements
support continuous improvement of engineering design practices and identify process enhancement opportunities
integrate security systems architecture with other disciplines and support licensing activities

Qualifications

B.S. or higher in engineering, computer science or related discipline from an accredited university
6+ years of direct experience with security digital systems architecture
Experience in instrumentation and controls digital system development and integration
Proven ability to design and deliver industrial digital systems and report data
Experience with maintaining or designing nuclear security systems is mandatory
Familiarity with IEEE and IEC standards is desired
Knowledge of nuclear cyber security plans and design control in accordance with nuclear quality assurance is preferred
Ability to manage projects with multiple objectives and resolve conflicts
Experience with process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID) is a plus
Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is desired
Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills
Self-starter with strong leadership and multitasking capabilities
Ability to work with integrity, teamwork, and open communication principles
Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
