Job Duties and Responsibilities
Must be a US Citizen
Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) with demonstrated experience with computer aided
Use drafting applications to originate and produce drawings with minimum supervision
3D modeling experience required (S3D preferred)
Read, interpret and generate design drawings with minimal input from a member of the engineering staff.
Must have the ability to walk down field systems with minimal guidance, interpret field direction, generate minor design details, create new drawings, modify existing drawings, and direct junior drafters
Education and Experience
Must be a US Citizen
Must have a minimum of an associate degree in a field related to the position and a minimum of ten (10) years progressive experience in drafting related to Engineering and Construction (nuclear preferred)
Must have a working knowledge of federal (including Department of Energy Orders), state, and local codes and standards applicable to specialized (nuclear or other areas) engineering design
Background and experience must include drafting / designer experience in engineering fields, such as electrical, mechanical, structural, communications, architectural, fire protection, or civil
Development of HVAC load calculations
Development of HVAC air flow diagrams and instrument diagrams
Development of HVAC system sequence of operation narratives
Sizing and specification of air handling units and other equipment
HVAC main duct and distribution duct sizing and routing
Development of black utility (chiller, boiler, custom Air Handling Unit (AHU), air compressor and cooling tower) specifications based upon sizing data provided by Process
Development of HVAC specifications
Area Security
Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments
Work Hours
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.
