Project Manager - Nuclear
Grand Prairie, MN
Pay: $ 82.00 per hour
NOTE: We are open to candidates who want to relocate for a long term contract role to Minnesota. The position offers Per Diem + hourly rate for non local candidates
Job Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing capital projects at nuclear power plant facilities, including plant modifications, equipment replacements, and infrastructure upgrades. This role manages projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and regulatory requirements. The position requires close coordination with engineering, maintenance, and business stakeholders, as well as strict adherence to safety, compliance, and nuclear access protocols.
Job Responsibilities
Manage capital projects from initiation through completion, including planning, execution, and closeout
Develop and maintain project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource plans
Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, construction, and internal stakeholders to execute project work
Monitor project performance, including financial tracking, risk management, and issue resolution
Lead project meetings, provide status updates, and present for approvals as required
Initiate and manage vendor contracts, sourcing, and procurement activities
Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and nuclear facility requirements
Conduct field observations and support issue resolution within plant environments
Support long-term planning, cost estimation, and process improvements for capital projects
Collaborate within a large, cross-functional team to support program and organizational goals
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
5–7 years of project management experience, including managing projects valued at $1 million or more
Experience managing projects in utility, power generation, or nuclear environments preferred
Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including PMI and PMBOK practices
Experience with project management and enterprise tools such as SAP, Primavera (P6), MS Project, Unifier, or Workday
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a collaborative team environment
PMP certification preferred
Experience with construction or engineering projects preferred
Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear facility, including passing background checks and fitness-for-duty requirements
Work Experience
Experience in nuclear power, utilities, or large-scale industrial projects preferred
Prior experience managing cross-functional teams and vendor relationships required
Experience with large capital projects and regulatory environments preferred
