This is a developmental position responsible for surveillance of lands, land rights, and shorelines for one or more reservoirs managed by the regional office.
Performs as generalist in activities dealing with agriculture, forestry, requirements of Section 26a, marginal strip policy, boundary maintenance, recreation facilities inventory and public relations.
Handles contact with the public, commercial boat dock operators, Government officials, and others to provide information and explain policies, procedures and regulations regarding land, land rights and Section 26a,
Inspect shorelines and reservoir lands for encroachments and violations.
Assists with actions to prevent such violations or encroachments, obtains data on those detected: promptly reports, orally and/or in writing all such incidents to the supervisor.
Assists private landowners, boat dock operators, and others is submitting appropriate application with sketches for approval facilities in accordance with Section 26a regulations, prepares reports on all resolved or unresolved violations for further handling.
Assess potential conflicts between the public right of use of land and the abutting property owners right to construct water-use facilities.
Identifies boundaries to be remarked
Education and experience/certificates, licenses, and registration requirements/other requirements must have a high school education
An associate degree from accredited college or university in Horticulture, forestry, geography, or other professional scientific fields associated with land use and development would be desirable.
Ideal candidates must be comfortable operating equipment on water as they will be operating boats, aquatic plant harvesting equipment, and other vessels on Guntersville Reservoir.
Candidates must also be comfortable pulling equipment/boat trailers.
Candidates will be working as part of a team but will be operating equipment solo, so they must have good judgement, be safety focused, and have strong communication. It is also worth noting this work is entirely outdoors, mostly on the water, throughout the summer.
Must have a valid drivers license
Must have an Alabama boater license/certification.
