Lead Mechanical Engineer
Project: Power Uprate Project
Pay Rate: Not Defined / need Candidate's requested rate
Duration: Initially 11 months (could be up to 2 years)
Schedule: 40 Hours per week
PD: $178.00/day (7 days per week)
Mob / Demob: $500.00 each way ($1,000 total)

This role is a dual-function position, operating as both a Lead Responsible Engineer (RE) / Design Engineer and a hands-on field engineer with the capability to develop and execute test plans for mechanical systems undergoing commissioning.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as Lead Responsible Engineer (RE) on mechanical system modifications and design change packages.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, design input documents, and technical evaluations in accordance with applicable codes and QA requirements.
• Perform plant walkdowns to verify field conditions and validate design inputs.
• Write, review, and execute test plans and startup procedures for mechanical systems undergoing commissioning or return to service.
• Provide field engineering support during modification implementation, including disposition of NCRs and field change requests.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and outage planning teams to support modification execution.
• Support 50.59 screenings and evaluations as applicable.

Requirements:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution.
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a nuclear power plant environment.
• Demonstrated experience as a Lead or Responsible Engineer on nuclear design modifications.
• Field experience with mechanical systems in an operating nuclear facility.
• Proven ability to develop test plans and startup/surveillance test procedures.
• Working knowledge of 10 CFR 50, ASME Section III/XI, and NQA-1 quality assurance requirements.

Preferred:

• Former Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or certification - strongly preferred.
• Experience at a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) facility.
• Prior experience performing or reviewing 50.59 screenings and evaluations.
• Nuclear plant outage engineering experience.

Physical Requirements: Must be capable of climbing, walking, kneeling, bending, and lifting as part of daily job responsibilities. Ability to lift a minimum of 35 - 60 lbs.
