Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Cleanrooms & HVAC)

Talascend is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.

Overview

This role involves conducting field investigations, leading the design and development of mechanical components and processes, and ensuring technical issues are resolved to meet complex project requirements in the manufacturing and technology sector.

Responsibilities

Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of mechanical engineering work within projects or staff groups.
Perform work involving conventional engineering practices, including resolving conflicting design requirements and complex coordination issues.
Use Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) to perform tasks.
Develop and review equipment specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and award recommendations.
Coordinate engineering efforts between specialty and other disciplines, as well as with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
Assume a lead technical role over other engineers or project subgroups for specific tasks.
Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to supervisors and project management.
Support development of engineering department procedures, design guides, and administrative practices.
Mentor designers and drafters, providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college.
10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Good working knowledge of international standards for cleanrooms and controlled environments (ISO 14644 1-14), IEST-RP-CC series, ASHRAE, SMACNA, and IMC standards for HVAC and air handling units.
In-depth knowledge of equipment packages such as air handling systems, air condensing units, VAV units, and cleanroom recirculation air and exhaust systems.
Ability to identify specific industry and technology experience.
Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques and design calculations.
Understanding of construction practices and project economics.
Ability to troubleshoot issues confidently in the field or job site setting and instruct others on resolution methods.
Demonstrated ability to meet conflicting deadlines, handle interruptions, and manage multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with systems, calculations, applications, plant layout, materials, and computer-based analyses within the discipline.
