QC Inspector, Fireproofing

Overview:
Full-time QC Inspector supporting the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) in Oak Ridge, TN. Responsible for inspection, testing, and compliance of fireproofing and firestop systems in accordance with project, regulatory, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect and test cementitious and intumescent fireproofing systems per project specs, IBC, and ASTM standards.
Perform and document thickness, density, and adhesion/cohesion testing (ASTM E605, ASTM E736).
Inspect penetration and joint firestop systems for compliance with UL listings and project requirements.
Review drawings, submittals, and manufacturer specifications to ensure proper installation.
Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, and project management to resolve quality issues.
Generate inspection reports and maintain documentation per NQA-1 standards.
Support audits, surveillances, and readiness reviews.
Identify nonconformances and track corrective actions to closure.
Ensure compliance with site safety, security, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in pre-installation meetings and provide technical input.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Education/Experience: Bachelor's + 3+ years OR High School Diploma + 9+ years relevant experience.
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen.

Certifications/Experience: MUST HAVE TO BE CONSIDERED
International Building Code (IBC) Special Inspector (required).
1-2 years experience with cementitious and/or intumescent fireproofing.

Technical Skills:
Knowledge of ASTM standards (E605, E736) and manufacturer specifications.
Ability to perform and document thickness, density, and adhesion testing.
Ability to interpret construction drawings, specs, and UL system details.

Preferred Qualifications:

NACE certification (current or prior).
3+ years coatings and/or fireproofing experience.
2+ years inspecting/installing penetration and joint firestop systems.
Knowledge of UL firestop systems and ASTM E2393, E2174.
NQA-1 Quality Control certification.
