Senior Component Design Engineer (RPA) – Contract

Pay Rate: $52-$95/hr DOE

System One is seeking an experienced Senior Component Design Engineer to support Generation IV nuclear reactor technology projects. This role will focus on the design and development of reactor structures and Rotatable Plug Assembly (RPA) equipment for advanced nuclear systems.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop mechanical equipment and reactor components
Perform engineering analysis and stress calculations
Support fabrication, supplier coordination, and design reviews
Develop design specifications and engineering documentation
Support manufacturability and assembly improvements
Interface with cross-functional engineering teams

Required Qualifications:

8+ years of equipment or component design experience
ASME Section III experience
Mechanical equipment design background
ANSYS / finite element stress analysis experience
Design for Manufacturability (DFM/DFA)
Experience supporting fabrication and supplier activities
CAD experience; SolidWorks preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

Slewing ring bearing experience
Elastomeric seal design experience
Nuclear or advanced reactor industry experience
