Position Summary:
The Technical Writer is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and revising technical documentation to support engineering and training programs. This role collaborates with NNL subject matter experts to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all documentation.

Pay Range: $100,000 to $120,000, DOE.

Note: This position requires a security clearance. The selected candidate is expected to begin the clearance process in June, with a planned onsite start date of October 1 in Pittsburgh, PA, or Ballston Spa, NY. Additional details regarding onboarding and interim arrangements will be discussed during the hiring process.

Essential Functions:
Prepare, review, and revise technical documents for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
Collaborate with NNL subject matter experts to gather and verify technical information.
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation.
Ensure documentation meets organizational and industry standards.
Maintain and update documentation using structured authoring tools and systems.
Competencies:
Strong technical writing and editing skills.
Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong organizational and document management skills.
Education & Experience:
Associate’s degree in Technical Writing or a related discipline, with a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working with technical subject matter experts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and other Office tools.
Experience with PTC Arbortext Editor, Mathflow, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro.
Experience with SGML/XML toolsets, including NTS custom SGML and XML tools and stylesheets.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Conditions:
This position is on-site in Pittsburgh, PA, or Ballston Spa, NY.
May require collaboration in secure or controlled environments due to clearance requirements.
Work is generally sedentary in nature, with occasional standing and walking required.
Lighting and temperature conditions are typically controlled and adequate.
The role may require work in technical, client, or operational environments, which may include exposure to varying noise levels, equipment, or facility conditions.
