Position Summary:
The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing and implementing high-quality training programs and curriculum to support technical and operational learning initiatives. This role works closely with subject matter experts, including NNL and Navy partners, to design effective training solutions using industry best practices.

Pay Range: $100,000 to $120,000, DOE.

Note: This position is onsite in Pittsburgh, PA, or Ballston Spa, NY. The selected candidate will begin employment in May to initiate the clearance process and is expected to be fully on-site starting October 1.

Essential Functions:
Develop and design training curriculum, including lesson plans, courseware, and instructional materials.
Create computer-based training (CBT) storyboards and interactive learning content.
Develop assessment instruments and evaluate training effectiveness through test groups.
Apply systematic instructional design methodologies, including ADDIE. (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate)
Collaborate with NNL and Navy subject matter experts to support curriculum development and implementation.
Analyze technical information and translate it into effective, engaging training materials.
Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment on technical content and training objectives.
Competencies:
Strong instructional design and curriculum development expertise.
Knowledge of Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies. (ADDIE preferred)
Ability to translate complex technical information into clear learning solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Human Performance Technology, Training & Development, or a related field. (or equivalent experience)
Experience developing training curriculum, courseware, and instructional materials.
Experience applying a systematic approach to instructional design and development.
Experience working with technical subject matter experts in regulated or technical environments is preferred.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Conditions:
This position is on-site in Pittsburgh, PA, or Ballston Spa, NY.
May require collaboration in secure or controlled environments due to clearance requirements.
Work is generally sedentary in nature, with occasional standing and walking required.
Lighting and temperature conditions are typically controlled and adequate.
The role may require work in technical, client, or operational environments, which may include exposure to varying noise levels, equipment, or facility conditions.
This position requires a security clearance. The selected candidate is expected to begin the clearance process in June, with a target on-site start date of October 1 in Pittsburgh, PA, or Ballston Spa, NY.
