Job Title: Project Manager 2

Duration: 1 year with extension up to 5 years

Location: Los Alamos, NM (On-Site)

Summary:

Project Manager 2 / Superintendent 3 to lead projects while supporting critical Lab missions. This position is assigned to LOG-CONSUPS, deployed to ALDPI, and will be located at TA-55 Plant.

The Project Manager 2 / Superintendent 3 will be responsible for leading projects of $500k or less and providing oversight to Superintendent 2’s as necessary. Responsibilities include investigating abnormal events and incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions, and serving as a Control Account Manager (CAM) responsible for planning, budgeting, managing, and controlling costs and schedule performance.

This role requires proven leadership and management skills to direct teams including work schedules, project progress, and resource allocation. The position involves advanced experience managing construction projects using Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), identifying project risks, developing mitigation strategies, and presenting project performance plans and status updates to federal sponsors.

This is a full-time, on-site position working a 4/10 schedule with anticipated overtime. Per diem and/or relocation assistance may be available. Candidates must be willing to support all shifts, including graveyard shifts, as required. Physical requirements include lifting, walking, standing for extended periods, and all standard physical demands of a construction environment.

This position requires Q Clearance or the ability to obtain one. A-Level access is required. This is a long-term commitment role, with an initial assignment of 1 year and potential extension up to 5 years.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years’ experience in project/construction management, with at least 5 years in engineering, procurement, or construction.

Nuclear Worker experience is required.

Advanced knowledge of all phases of construction projects, including upgrades, renovations, and D&D (Decontamination & Decommissioning).

Extensive knowledge of facility maintenance and/or construction management, including systems engineering, safety/authorization basis, configuration management, work control, and facility control systems.

Extensive knowledge of collective bargaining agreements related to all trades.

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to report to senior management and regulatory bodies.

Ability to obtain DOE Q Clearance is required.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, and weekends.

A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or specialized courses in project management, is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
