Talascend is currently seeking an Engineering Project Coordinator for a fully remote, contract opportunity with our client.
Overview
This role focuses on managing engineering design activities, coordinating interfaces between project teams, and facilitating engineering work planning and staffing. The successful candidate will support technical schedule management, resource forecasting, and project risk coordination for complex engineering projects.
Responsibilities
Facilitate management of project cost, schedule, and scope execution using project management best practices and principles, ensuring adherence to plan and addressing deviations.
Manage modifications to the high-level engineering schedule through interfaces to project controls organization on behalf of engineering.
Initiate and facilitate change process approvals for new and emerging engineering activities consistent with project scheduling standards.
Align and manage breakdown of high-level engineering tasks into discretized activity schedules for multiple design teams.
Verify and track team assignments within schedules, manage engineering resource levelization over time, and generate resource forecasts monthly.
Communicate and coordinate buy-in from relevant stakeholders and track requests to resource managers.
Ensure schedule and resource impacts of technical changes are quantified and communicated.
Develop, refine, and manage standard design activity sequences for future design phases and procurement activities.
Create detailed schedule logic tie interfaces for activities within the design team and with external teams.
Generate and track milestones aligned to task activities and gather status updates from design teams.
Manage updates to project reporting and provide periodic status updates to engineering leaders.
Support project risk management by tracking risk status, maintaining the risk registry, and facilitating monthly risk reviews.
Coordinate project fiscal year schedule, resource, and budget planning efforts.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university
4+ years of direct experience with project management
PMP certification strongly desired
Demonstrated experience in project management of engineering activities, including systems engineering and nuclear design processes
Experience working with highly multidisciplinary and matrixed teams
Strong understanding of technical schedule management, including schedule development, logic sequences, and resource forecasting
Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent project management tools
Experience with Atlassian tools such as Confluence and JIRA a plus
Knowledge of NRC 10CFR50 licensing process desirable but not required
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Attention to detail and a drive for excellence
Self-starter with ability to lead cross-functional efforts with minimal direction
Ability to handle competing objectives and resolve conflicts effectively
Ability to translate technical discussions into schedule-impact language
Experience integrating supplier schedules into the master schedule
