Talascend is currently seeking a Site Design Engineering Coordinator for a fully remote position supporting our client in Bellevue WA.
Overview
The Site Design Engineering Coordinator will support the establishment and maintenance of onsite design engineering organizations for a nuclear demonstration project. The role involves acting as a key liaison with various teams to ensure the development, implementation, and ongoing management of tools, processes, and technical interfaces that enable safe and compliant construction and operation of a nuclear plant.
Responsibilities
Manage communications and coordination between home office engineering and onsite design engineering teams; set priorities, track progress, and ensure timely closure of engineering tasks routed to the home office in support of construction activities
Escalate unresolved or high-impact issues/conflicts to senior leadership for prompt resolution
Support workforce planning by identifying resource needs based on project inputs, team capability, construction schedule demands, and long-range forecasts
Verify the robustness of interfaces between site design engineering and all interfacing organizations, emphasizing effective communication to minimize delays and improve decision-making
Arrange and lead meetings between stakeholders to promote resolution of cross-cutting engineering issues
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the site design engineering organization to enhance performance and efficiency
Interface with construction management, field engineering, licensing, quality assurance, utility partners, procurement, suppliers, external regulators, and home office functions
Develop and implement training and qualification plans for site design engineering disciplines to ensure personnel competency and regulatory compliance
Represent the director of site design engineering at meetings or onsite activities as delegated or required
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, nuclear, or related discipline) from an accredited institution
Minimum 7-10 years of construction, manufacturing, testing, and/or project management experience working with multidisciplinary teams
Experience in nuclear facility design, construction support, or field engineering, preferably on large-scale nuclear new-build, demonstration, or advanced reactor projects
Familiarity with sodium-cooled fast reactor technology, advanced nuclear systems, or DOE-funded demonstration projects is desirable
Ability to interface with construction, procurement, quality, licensing, and regulatory entities to resolve complex onsite technical issues while maintaining schedule and safety priorities
Proven ability to forecast resource needs, coordinate across teams, and drive project execution in dynamic, schedule-driven environments
Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to obtain and maintain site access and necessary security clearances for work at a nuclear construction site
