Mechanical Senior & Principal Design Engineer

Compa Industries is searching for qualified candidates for Mechanical Senior Design Engineer and Mechanical Principal Design Engineer opportunities supporting a major nuclear and industrial engineering client in Greenville, South Carolina.

Pay Range: $60.00 - $67.00/hr
Location: Greenville, SC
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required
Work Schedule: Full-Time
Clearance: May be required based on assignment

Candidates must possess prior experience supporting EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects in industrial, federal, or nuclear environments.
U.S. Citizenship is required for all levels.
Applicants must have demonstrated experience with mechanical systems/equipment design and proficiency with industry-standard CADD/design tools.

Join a team supporting complex engineering projects in nuclear, federal, and industrial environments. Mechanical Senior and Principal Design Engineers contribute to the successful design, analysis, specification, procurement, construction, and commissioning of critical mechanical systems and equipment. These roles support mission-critical infrastructure projects and provide opportunities to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams on technically challenging assignments.

Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities may include:
Analyze and develop technical solutions for complex mechanical engineering challenges
Develop and review engineering specifications and design criteria
Perform and review engineering analyses and calculations
Specify materials, systems, and equipment for project applications
Support development of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Coordinate with project management, vendors, subcontractors, and other engineering disciplines
Execute work in compliance with project quality requirements, approved scope, budget, and schedule
Prepare equipment data sheets and establish equipment requirements
Support procurement activities including technical bid evaluations and vendor submittal reviews
Support construction activities including responses to RFIs and field changes
Participate in supplier/contractor meetings and equipment testing activities
Provide consultation during fabrication, installation, commissioning, and startup activities
Develop equipment lists, specifications, standards, and general arrangement drawings
Perform equipment sizing evaluations and performance assessments
Participate in model reviews and monitor mechanical equipment layout activities
Lead or supervise engineers and designers on assigned projects
Develop estimates, schedules, staffing forecasts, and progress reports

Minimum Qualifications
Mechanical Senior Design Engineer
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
Minimum 10 years of relevant engineering experience
Advanced knowledge of engineering codes and standards
Significant EPC project experience on large industrial projects
Demonstrated leadership or area lead experience
Experience reviewing supplier/contractor drawings and technical data
Strong understanding of mechanical systems and equipment design
Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation and/or Autodesk AutoCAD

Mechanical Principal Design Engineer
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 15 years of relevant engineering experience
Advanced experience leading large engineering projects and teams
Demonstrated supervisory leadership experience
Advanced technical knowledge of mechanical equipment and EPC execution
Experience with project setup, scheduling, forecasting, and project close-out activities
Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation and/or Autodesk AutoCAD

Desired Skills
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience supporting Department of Energy or other federal agency projects
Experience working under ASME NQA-1 quality requirements
Practical field and startup/commissioning experience
Knowledge of:
Rotating equipment
Pressure vessels
Heat transfer equipment
Packaged equipment
Metallurgy and welding
Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) integration
Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or nuclear industries
Strong proficiency interpreting and working with P&IDs

Education and Experience Requirements

Mechanical Principal Design Engineer BS in Mechanical Engineering 15+ years
