Manufacturing Technician
**Location:** Oak Ridge, TN
**Work Arrangement:** Fully onsite
**Schedule:** Full-time, 10-hour shifts
**Employment Classification:** Non-exempt
**Pay Range:** $29–$42 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
**Start Date:** ASAP
**Work Authorization:** U.S. citizens only
**Clearance:** Q Clearance required; active Q Clearance is highly preferred, but highly qualified candidates who are able to obtain a clearance may also be considered.
## About the Role
COMPA Industries is seeking an experienced **Manufacturing Technician** to support manufacturing operations in Oak Ridge, TN. This role supports the Manufacturing Manager by developing manufacturing work instructions, designing fixtures, creating 3D models, preparing shop drawings, supporting CNC programs, and building complete job travelers and manufacturing packages.
The Manufacturing Technician will work closely with machinists, quality control, and manufacturing leadership to troubleshoot production processes, diagnose quality issues, and support the successful execution of manufacturing plans and production schedules.
## Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
* Develop and implement manufacturing processes in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
* Create CAD/CAM files using SolidWorks, MasterCAM, Esprit, or comparable systems as needed to support manufacturing process development.
* Create turnkey job packages, including job travelers, manufacturing work instructions, tooling, fixtures, CNC programs, and quality control hold points.
* Support shop floor personnel with implementation, troubleshooting, and process improvement once jobs are released to production.
* Work with quality control to diagnose quality issues and support corrective action.
* Work with machinists to implement manufacturing plans and production schedules.
* Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and ongoing production needs.
* Take ownership of new and different requests while identifying opportunities to add value to manufacturing operations.
## Required Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have:
* High School Diploma or GED required.
* Associate degree or certification in a related field preferred.
* 5+ years of CAD/CAM experience required; 10+ years preferred.
* 5+ years of experience programming and operating CNC equipment required; 10+ years preferred.
* 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
* Experience setting up and operating 2–4 axis CNC lathes, 3–5 axis mills, and 4x Wire EDM equipment.
* Proficient understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
* Experience setting up and troubleshooting CNC machines.
* Ability to select appropriate tooling and machining resources for the manufacture of parts.
* Strong mathematical skills.
* Ability to read blueprints with GD&T.
* Ability to read instrumentation and gauges for measurement purposes.
* Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
## Preferred Qualifications
* OD/ID and surface grinding experience.
* Experience with SolidWorks, MasterCAM, and Esprit.
* Experience with comparable CAD/CAM software may also be considered, especially for candidates who meet other highly desirable qualifications such as an active clearance.
* Active Q Clearance strongly preferred.
## Work Environment
This position is performed in a manufacturing or production floor environment. Candidates should be comfortable working around noise, machinery, and production equipment. Use of personal protective equipment, or PPE, will be required as appropriate.
## Compensation and Benefits
The pay range for this position is **$29–$42 per hour**, depending on experience and qualifications.
## Travel, Relocation, and Per Diem (is available)
These positions are local to Oak Ridge, TN. Relocation or per diem support is still to be determined.
## Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing professional with strong CAD/CAM, CNC programming, CNC operation, machining, and troubleshooting experience. This person should be comfortable supporting production from planning through shop floor execution, collaborating with machinists and quality teams, and creating complete job packages that help ensure safe, accurate, and efficient manufacturing.
