Thomas Thor currently has a very long-term contract opening for a Senior Structural Analyst that can be performed remotely from your home.

Responsibilities:

Perform mechanical analyses of reactor structures, systems, and nuclear island components to verify performance remains within code-defined limits (ASME BPVC, ASCE, AISC)

Conduct structural, buckling, thermal, seismic, and creep-fatigue/inelastic analyses of high-temperature reactor components under neutron fluence environments

Develop, maintain, and peer-review analysis documentation to quality assurance plan standards

Apply seismic analysis methods including response spectrum and time history modeling per ASCE 4 and ASCE 43

Qualifications:

B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear, or Civil Engineering from an accredited university

8+ years of relevant experience

Proficiency in ANSYS (Workbench and/or APDL) and SolidWorks for finite element stress and structural analysis

Strong understanding of solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, and fatigue failure

Working experience with ASME BPVC Section III (Div. 1 and 5), Section VIII Div. 2, B31.1, and B31.3

Experience with seismic analysis per ASCE 4 and/or ASCE 43

Familiarity with nuclear or comparably stringent QA programs (ASME NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000)
