Operations SRO Consultant
Minneapolis, MN
NOTE: We are open to candidates who want to relocate for a long term contract role to Minnesota. The position offers Per Diem + hourly rate for non local candidates
Pay: $100.00 - $150.00 per hour
Job Summary
The Operations SRO Consultant is responsible for supporting nuclear operations training programs through classroom, simulator, and plant-based instruction for licensed and non-licensed operations personnel. This role develops and delivers training content, evaluates operator performance, supports regulatory compliance initiatives, and contributes to operational readiness and continuous improvement activities. The ideal candidate has extensive nuclear operations experience, prior Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) licensure, and strong instructional and leadership capabilities.
Job Responsibilities
Deliver training in classroom, simulator, and plant environments for operations personnel
Instruct, mentor, and evaluate non-licensed operators, initial license candidates, licensed operators, and shift leadership teams
Develop, maintain, and update lesson plans, simulator scenarios, evaluation tools, and Job Performance Measures (JPMs)
Support operator qualification and licensing programs in compliance with NRC and ANSI standards
Assist with simulator fidelity improvements and operational training enhancements
Participate in performance improvement initiatives and corrective action programs
Support plant issue resolution and operational readiness activities
Participate in emergency response organization activities and refueling outage support as required
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to trainees and operations personnel
Collaborate with operations, training, and leadership teams to ensure effective knowledge transfer and regulatory compliance
Maintain accurate training documentation and qualification records
Support development and administration of operator examinations and evaluation activities
Job Requirements
Active or previously held Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license required
Strong communication, presentation, and instructional skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong understanding of nuclear operations procedures, training standards, and regulatory requirements
Ability to support classroom instruction, simulator training, and plant operational activities
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to mentor and evaluate personnel in high-performance operational environments
Familiarity with NRC and ANSI regulatory standards preferred
Work Experience
Minimum of 10 years of nuclear operations experience preferred
Prior Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification preferred
Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) experience preferred
Experience delivering classroom and simulator instruction preferred
Experience with NUREG-1021 exam development preferred
INPO Instructor Certification preferred
Previous supervisory or shift leadership experience preferred
