JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Quality Control Engineer provides quality control support to ensure construction and/or maintenance activities meet all project requirements. This role supports quality assurance implementation, oversees inspection activities, and ensures compliance with applicable codes, specifications, and procedures.
Safety is a primary responsibility of this position. The candidate must follow all safety requirements, complete necessary training, and stop work when unsafe conditions exist.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Quality Control Engineer performs inspection, surveillance, and verification activities in support of construction and maintenance work. The role reviews design output documents to determine inspection requirements and ensures proper integration into quality procedures and work packages.
Responsibilities include coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues and provide status updates on inspection and testing activities. The position reviews work packages for technical requirements, personnel qualifications, sequencing, and required hold points prior to execution.
The engineer performs or directs inspection, testing, and surveillance activities and documents results in accordance with project requirements. The role also supports interpretation of codes, specifications, and drawings and assists in resolution of technical issues.
Additional responsibilities include oversight of subordinate QC personnel, evaluation of completed construction activities, and verification of quality documentation prior to system turnover. The position reviews subcontractor quality programs, participates in mobilization activities, and monitors subcontractor performance for compliance.
The role also evaluates supplier and subcontractor documentation to ensure traceability and specification compliance, tracks subcontractor resources, and reviews and approves invoices and applications for payment.

WORK HOURS:
A standard 40-hour work week is scheduled. Work schedules may include 5/8s, 4/10s, or 9/80s depending on project needs. Work week excludes client holidays. A 30-minute lunch break is included each workday. Overtime may be required to meet project deliverables.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience
OR
Associate’s degree with 7–9 years of relevant experience
OR
High school diploma with 10–14 years of relevant experience
Experience / Skills:
• Experience in construction inspection, quality control, or related field activities
• Knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, and construction processes
• Ability to perform and oversee field inspections and surveillance activities
• Strong understanding of quality assurance principles and compliance requirements
Certifications:
• Certification and continuing technical training required for inspection and surveillance activities
• Additional specialized training may be required based on assignment

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” Security Clearance
• Active clearance not required to start but must be obtained when requested
• Ability to support field and construction environments as required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous DOE clearance (L or Q) held within the past two (2) years
• Experience supporting DOE or government projects
• Experience working with subcontractors and quality programs in EPC or construction environments
