Job Summary

The Civil/Structural Engineer is responsible for developing, reviewing, and implementing engineering designs, calculations, technical evaluations, and modification packages supporting large-scale capital improvement projects within a nuclear power generation environment. This role ensures engineering solutions comply with applicable regulatory requirements, technical specifications, design basis requirements, and industry standards. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, external engineering organizations, manufacturers, and construction personnel to support project execution from design through implementation.

Job Responsibilities

Develop and review structural engineering designs, calculations, technical evaluations, and modification packages for capital improvement projects.
Perform detailed analyses of steel and concrete structures to ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and design requirements.
Evaluate proposed design changes for compliance with regulatory, licensing, and design basis requirements.
Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and supporting documentation.
Support engineering activities related to system modifications, equipment replacements, and infrastructure upgrades.
Conduct design basis assessments and regulatory applicability evaluations in accordance with nuclear industry requirements.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, manufacturers, contractors, and external engineering organizations throughout project execution.
Provide engineering support during construction, installation, testing, startup, and implementation activities.
Resolve field engineering issues by developing practical and technically sound solutions.
Review vendor designs, technical submittals, and engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Support outage activities and implementation projects requiring engineering oversight and technical guidance.
Ensure engineering documentation is maintained in accordance with quality assurance and configuration management requirements.
Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and technical evaluations.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring as required.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a related engineering discipline.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Minimum of 8 years of civil and structural engineering experience.
Strong analytical capability in steel and concrete structural design.
Demonstrated experience applying nuclear engineering design processes and regulatory requirements.
Experience performing design change evaluations, engineering calculations, and technical assessments within a regulated environment.
Knowledge of nuclear licensing requirements and design basis evaluations, including regulatory applicability reviews.
Experience supporting construction, installation, implementation, and field engineering activities.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to develop practical solutions to complex field and engineering challenges.
Willingness and ability to travel as required.
Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a related engineering discipline required.
Work Experience

Minimum of 8 years of civil and structural engineering experience required.
Recent experience supporting commercial nuclear power facilities strongly preferred.
Experience developing and reviewing engineering calculations, design changes, and technical evaluations in a nuclear environment preferred.
Experience supporting large-scale capital projects and infrastructure replacement initiatives preferred.
Experience working with engineering consulting organizations, architect-engineer firms, or utility clients preferred.
Experience supporting construction implementation, outage activities, and field engineering efforts preferred.
Experience using structural analysis and engineering calculation software preferred.
Experience with GTStrudl preferred.
Experience with MathCAD preferred.
Recent qualification experience related to engineering calculations, design changes, and regulatory screening activities within a nuclear facility preferred.
