# Structural Engineer III – Nuclear Power Generation

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced **Structural Engineer III** to support major capital projects associated with the **Subsequent License Renewal (SLR)** program at a commercial nuclear power station. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and reviewing engineering design changes, calculations, technical evaluations, and licensing basis assessments to support critical plant modernization and infrastructure replacement projects.

This position requires a strong background in structural engineering, nuclear design processes, and field implementation activities. The engineer will work closely with Engineers of Choice (EOCs), equipment manufacturers, construction teams, and station personnel to ensure designs meet all technical, regulatory, and licensing requirements.

## Key Responsibilities

* Develop, review, and approve engineering design changes and modification packages.
* Perform and review structural calculations involving steel and reinforced concrete structures.
* Evaluate plant modifications for compliance with station design basis and regulatory requirements.
* Perform design and licensing basis assessments in accordance with **10 CFR 50.59** requirements, including applicability determinations and screenings.
* Support construction activities, field walkdowns, implementation planning, and outage execution.
* Interface with external engineering firms, manufacturers, vendors, and station stakeholders.
* Provide technical oversight to ensure designs meet plant specifications, codes, standards, and licensing commitments.
* Support resolution of field issues through practical engineering solutions.
* Participate in multidisciplinary project teams supporting large capital improvement projects.

## Projects May Include

* 96-inch Circulating Water Intake Piping Replacement
* 4160V Cable Replacement Program
* Fuel Handling Crane Replacement
* Containment Cooling Coil Replacement
* R22 Refrigerant Elimination Projects
* Additional Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) initiatives

## Required Qualifications

### Education

* Bachelor's Degree in:

* Civil Engineering
* Structural Engineering
* Engineering Mechanics
* Or related engineering discipline

### Experience

* Minimum **8 years of engineering experience**
* Recent experience supporting **commercial nuclear power plants**
* Experience with nuclear design change processes, engineering calculations, and implementation activities
* Demonstrated experience supporting construction, installation, and field execution activities

### Required Certifications & Qualifications

* **Professional Engineer (PE) License**
* Must have held qualifications at a commercial nuclear power station within the last three years, including:

* Design Change Qualification
* Engineering Calculations
* 10 CFR 50.59 Applicability Determinations and/or Screenings

## Required Technical Skills

* Strong analytical capability in:

* Steel design
* Reinforced concrete design
* Structural evaluations and calculations
* Proficiency with the Nuclear Standard Design Process
* Working knowledge of:

* 10 CFR 50.59
* Design basis evaluations
* Licensing basis assessments
* Nuclear modification processes
* Experience supporting construction and field implementation activities

## Preferred Qualifications

* Experience supporting Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) projects
* Experience with major plant modifications and capital projects
* Previous experience with:

* Dominion Energy facilities
* Sargent & Lundy
* Enercon
* Zachry
* Other nuclear Architect/Engineer organizations
* Experience at commercial nuclear generating stations within the past three years

## Preferred Software Experience

* GTStrudl
* MathCAD

## Soft Skills

* Ability to develop practical engineering solutions to field issues
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, engineering firms, vendors, and construction organizations
* Proven leadership skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
* Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities

Pay $64 per hour PLUS Per Diem
