Overview

System One is seeking a Nuclear Maintenance & Training Developer for a yearlong contract role to provide the following services focused on the development of M&T training programs and training materials. In this role, the M&T Training Instructor – Mechanical reports directly to the M&T Training Manager and will develop the programs, processes, and procedures necessary for establishing and running M&T training. The successful candidate will integrate and coordinate with other departments, project partners, regulators, and outside organizations working on operator training.

Responsibilities

Develop Maintenance & Technical (M&T) training processes, programs, and procedures for a newly developed training department, ensuring compliance with company standards, NRC regulations, INPO accreditation criteria, and other applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Develop and execute a strategy for training program initial accreditation using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT).
Use the SAT process to develop new high-quality training curriculum for maintenance and technical personnel.
Revise training programs to maintain instructional and technical accuracy based on plant design changes, modifications to plant procedures, and changes in plant processes.
Participate actively in the Training Curriculum Review Committee.
Coordinate with management, the emergency response organization, and other organizations to develop and improve training programs.
Prepare trainee examination material and trainee evaluations for classroom, laboratory, OJT, and simulator environments, as appropriate.
Prepare processes for training performance evaluations, trainee counseling sessions, and individualized training programs.
Incorporate information from INPO Significant Operating Experience Reports, NRC Circulars, Bulletins, and Information Notices, plant design changes, plant procedure changes and revisions, new regulations, and training effectiveness reports into training programs and training materials.
Participate in NRC, INPO, and management audits and prepare responses to audit findings.
Develop and maintain knowledge of plant design, plant operations, disciplinary skills and techniques to create effective, high-quality training.
Supervise the collection and maintenance of auditable training records and reports required to document training program activities.
Assist Training Management in establishing department goals and cost estimates for budgeted activities for assigned areas, including specific project or subject matter areas as assigned.

Requirements

2 years of commercial power plant experience in a nuclear mechanical maintenance discipline.
Military nuclear experience of 4 years or more, or a combination of other experience with academic degrees may be considered.
Mastery of skills and extensive subject matter knowledge in analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, evaluating, and proposing modifications to Maintenance & Technical (M&T) training programs.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
Attention to detail and aspiration for training excellence.
High degree of trust and integrity; ability to communicate openly, respect, and foster teamwork.
Understands how individual actions and decisions can positively or negatively affect the ability of the total organization to meet requirements to regulatory agencies and the public.
Adapts well to emergent changes due to changes in plant design, plant procedures, schedule changes, or other challenges associated with the design, construction, and commissioning of a new nuclear power plant.
Currently looking for instructors with experience in training and instruction on nuclear plant mechanical systems (pumps, valves, turbines, and heat exchangers).
Developed hands-on training exercises including practical lab exercises, mock-up scenarios, and on-the-job training.
Ensured adherence to maintenance procedures, technical manuals, and work packages emphasizing precision, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Assessed and qualified mechanical technicians using written tests, performance evaluations, and hands-on demonstrations to ensure qualification standards.
