Talascend is currently seeking a Probabilistic Risk Assessment Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Bellevue, Washington.
Overview
The role involves performing probabilistic risk assessments and severe accident analyses for reactor design, supporting safety and licensing decisions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Contribute to PRA work in coordination with plant design, deterministic, and consequence safety analysis
Ensure PRA is appropriate and complies with regulatory requirements and standards
Develop event and fault trees, radiological transport models, and PRA models using CAFTA
Perform risk analysis, importance measures, and risk metrics reporting
Contribute to hazard analysis, PIRT exercises, SSC classification, and safety evaluations
Provide technical guidance and participate in PRA peer reviews
Develop topical reports, presentations, and documentation of analysis results
Perform hand calculations for system performance validation
Qualifications
B.S. in nuclear, mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering (or similar)
One year or more of experience in probabilistic risk assessment
Knowledge of PRA principles and familiarity with the ASME/ANS Non-Light Water PRA standard
Experience with PRA software such as CAFTA, FRANX, SAPHIRE, or Risk Spectrum
Experience with codes like GOTHIC, MELCOR, RADTRAD is a plus
Demonstrated technical writing and communication skills
Fluent in spoken and written English
Understanding of various engineering disciplines in nuclear plant design
High integrity, teamwork, and effective communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of sodium fast reactor technology or advanced reactors
