Nuclear Engineering Program Specialist (135752)

Talascend is currently seeking a Nuclear Engineering Program Specialist for a remote, contract opportunity with our client.

Overview

This role involves developing nuclear power plant engineering programs and procedures, focusing on integrating regulations and industry best practices into innovative reactor designs. The specialist will coordinate with engineering teams to ensure compliance and support the operational lifecycle of nuclear facilities.

Responsibilities

Develop KU1 engineering program documents from existing project deliverables to support long-term plant operation
Develop and review procedures for use at Kemmerer Unit 1
Coordinate with a geographically diverse design team, including employees, subcontractors, partners, and customers
Provide inputs on plant and system-level requirements, specifications, and strategy documents related to operations and maintenance
Apply engineering principles to the design of nuclear and industrial facilities, systems, and operations
Support design reviews and resolve cross-functional technical concerns as a subject matter expert
Support teammates and contractors in plant development efforts
Promote continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain high design quality and identify process improvement opportunities

Qualifications

B.S. degree in nuclear, mechanical, electrical, or relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university
7+ years of direct experience in commercial nuclear engineering programs
Experience developing nuclear plant engineering programs and procedures such as IST, ISI, Maintenance Rule
Experience in nuclear engineering design is preferred
Senior Reactor Operator qualification or equivalent; Shift Technical Advisor qualification is preferred
Experience writing nuclear power plant procedures based on plant design basis analyses is preferred
Knowledge of nuclear work control, maintenance strategies, and engineering programs requirements
Scheduling experience with P6 software is preferred
Strong understanding of nuclear regulations, plant work control, and industry standards, such as NEI 18-04
Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills
Attention to detail and a commitment to technical excellence
High potential, self-starter with leadership and coordination skills
Ability to manage tasks with multiple objectives and resolve conflicts effectively
Experience working with quality standards like ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001
High integrity, open communication, team-oriented attitude
