Talascend is currently seeking a Project Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Peachtree Corners, Georgia.

Overview

The project engineer is responsible for planning and coordinating technical engineering initiatives to ensure project completion within allocated budget, schedule, and meeting customer, industry standards, regulatory, and quality requirements. They also prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for various engineering services supporting nuclear power facilities.

Responsibilities

Review customer contracts, order acceptance, document approvals, project date changes, and shipment notifications.
Create detailed work plans identifying activities needed for successful project completion.
Determine required resources such as time, money, and equipment.
Develop project schedules that allocate resources effectively.
Provide client updates and host monthly project reviews.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical and electrical components, refurbishment, retrofitting, and field service projects.
Review RFQs, technical drawings, electrical schematics, and specifications.
Calculate labor, material, subcontractor costs, and overheads for proposals.
Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and specifications.
Evaluate complexity, inspection, testing, and documentation requirements, identifying risks and compliance early in the bid process.
Collaborate with engineering to clarify assumptions and scope.
Ensure estimates reflect compliance with NRC rules, ASME code, nuclear quality standards, and electrical codes.
Include costs for documentation, traceability, inspection, testing, and QA oversight.
Coordinate with manufacturing, operations, supply chain, quality assurance, and sales teams.
Participate in technical and commercial bid reviews.
Create and review design drawings and documents, test plans, test reports, and address nonconformances.
Review customer technical specifications and translate them into client documents.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (required).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, design, manufacturing, and estimating large projects.
Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of machining, fabrication, welding, NDE, heat treatment, and material traceability.
Understanding of nuclear quality requirements (e.g., NQA-1).
Proficiency in ERP systems and estimating software.
Strong Excel skills.
Experience in nuclear, power generation, or other highly regulated industries preferred.
Exposure to electrical and mechanical components in industrial or nuclear applications is highly desirable.
Analytical and detail-oriented with effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
PMP certification is preferred.
