Control system experience is helpful but not the primary focus. The strongest candidates will have practical electrical design experience and the ability to work closely with construction, operations, and field personnel.
## Required Skillsets - Read Before Applying
Candidates must have strong electrical engineering experience related to power design, construction documentation, and field support. Strong candidates will bring experience with:
* **Low-voltage electrical power systems under 480V**
* **120V and 208V power systems**
* **Conductor sizing**
* **Conduit sizing**
* **Junction box design and layout**
* **Electrical construction documents**
* **Electrical design drawings and specifications**
* **Producing and interpreting engineering documentation**
* **Construction documentation and field support**
* **Field issue resolution and design interpretation**
* **Facility electrical systems**
* **Power design experience**
* **Multidiscipline coordination with construction, operations, engineering, and field teams**
## Key Responsibilities
* Review LAP-4 designs, internal designs, and engineering change requests.
* Develop, review, and interpret electrical construction documents.
* Create and support electrical design packages, drawings, specifications, and field documentation.
* Perform electrical design work for low-voltage power systems, including 120V, 208V, and systems under 480V.
* Perform conductor sizing, conduit sizing, junction box evaluations, and related electrical design tasks.
* Support field teams by interpreting design documents and resolving construction or installation questions.
* Provide engineering support for facility operations, downstream waste activities, TA-55 client needs, and RLUOB-related support.
* Interface with construction, operations, maintenance, project teams, and other engineering disciplines.
* Support safe, compliant, and efficient execution of electrical work in secure DOE facility environments.
* Work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
* Access plant/facility areas as needed and perform field walkdowns.
## Minimum Requirements
### Electrical Engineer 2
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
* Approximately 3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
* Experience developing, reviewing, or interpreting electrical design documents.
* Experience with low-voltage power systems, preferably including 120V, 208V, and systems under 480V.
* Familiarity with conductor sizing, conduit sizing, junction boxes, and facility electrical design.
* Ability to support construction documentation and field interpretation.
* Strong communication, organization, and technical problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work 100% onsite in Los Alamos, NM.
* Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance and Green Strap access.
* Ability to access plant/facility environments and walk around job sites as needed.
### Electrical Engineer 3
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
* Approximately 8-9+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
* Strong experience producing and interpreting construction documents, design packages, and technical specifications.
* Strong experience with facility electrical power design, low-voltage systems, field engineering support, and construction issue resolution.
* Ability to independently support engineering design, documentation, and stakeholder coordination in a regulated environment.
