Compa Industries is seeking qualified candidates for **Subject Matter Expert 1** positions supporting Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM. This role supports electrical safety, code compliance, field assessments, and safe work execution inside **PF-4**, one of LANL's most critical operational environments.

## Position Overview

The Subject Matter Expert 1 will provide electrical safety field support inside PF-4, with a focus on electrical safety standards, code compliance, field assessments, and practical problem-solving in an operational facility environment.

This role requires someone who is both **book smart and field smart** a candidate who understands electrical safety requirements and can apply them effectively in the field. The selected candidate must be comfortable working in plant/facility environments, standing for extended periods, supporting field teams, and communicating technical information clearly.

The strongest candidates will have hands-on electrical field experience, strong knowledge of **NFPA 70E**, and the ability to assess electrical work conditions, identify hazards, support safe work practices, and collaborate effectively with a team.

## Key Responsibilities

* Provide electrical safety subject matter expertise in support of PF-4 field operations.
* Support implementation of electrical safe work practices in operational and field environments.
* Evaluate electrical work activities for compliance with NFPA 70E, NFPA, IEEE, OSHA, DOE, and LANL requirements.
* Perform field assessments and identify electrical hazards, deficiencies, or compliance concerns.
* Support code compliance reviews and help determine safe, practical solutions.
* Provide technical support related to low-voltage AC and DC electrical systems.
* Communicate technical electrical safety information clearly to field teams, management, and stakeholders.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support safe execution of work.
* Apply critical thinking and independent judgment to evaluate field conditions and recommend appropriate actions.
* Support continuous improvement of electrical safety practices, documentation, and field execution.
* Work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining independence and accountability.

## Minimum Requirements

* Bachelor's degree and 7 years of relevant field experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Advanced knowledge of electrical safety standards, including **NFPA, IEEE, OSHA, and especially NFPA 70E**.
* Experience with electrical engineering or electrical technology applications, including **low-voltage AC and DC systems**.
* Significant experience using personal computer systems and Microsoft Office.
* Demonstrated expert communication and organizational skills, including the ability to present complex technical information.
* Strong field experience and ability to work directly in facility/plant environments.
* Ability to be both technically knowledgeable and practical in field application.
* Ability to work 100% onsite in Los Alamos, NM.
* Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance.
* Ability to stand for long periods and support field-based work.

## Highly Desired Experience

* Electrical Safety Officer experience.
* Electrical field engineering or electrical technology background.
* Commercial, industrial, DOE, nuclear, or high-hazard facility electrical experience.
* Experience working inside operational facilities, plant environments, or secure facilities.
* Experience supporting PF-4, TA-55, LANL, DOE, NNSA, or National Laboratory environments.
* Experience assessing field conditions and applying electrical safety standards in real time.
* Experience with code compliance, field inspections, hazard identification, and corrective actions.
* Inside wireman, commercial electrician, industrial electrician, electrical inspector, or electrical safety professional background.
* Active DOE Q Clearance or prior clearance history.

## Clearance Requirements

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a **DOE Q Clearance**.

* Candidates do not need to currently hold a Q Clearance.
* Candidates must be able to obtain clearance.
* U.S. Citizenship is required for DOE clearance eligibility.
* Additional access authorization may be required based on assignment needs.

## Work Schedule

This is a **100% onsite** position supporting 12-hour shifts.

* Candidates will work day shift during the training period, expected to last approximately 6 months.
* After training, employees may be divided between day and night shift coverage.
* Shift assignments will be based on operational needs.

## Work Environment

This role will physically support work inside **PF-4**. Candidates must be comfortable working in a secure operational facility environment and supporting hands-on field activities. The work may require standing for long periods and working closely with field teams, technical staff, and leadership.

This person should be comfortable assessing real-world electrical conditions, applying NFPA 70E and related standards, supporting code compliance, identifying hazards, and communicating clearly with field teams.
