Project Manager – Electrical Engineering Consultant

Location
Chicago, Illinois
Hybrid work schedule (3 days per week in office)
Occasional travel to client offices and project sites
Overview
This opportunity is with a leading engineering and consulting organization supporting the power generation industry. The Project Manager will lead consulting engagements focused on the development, financing, execution, and evaluation of utility-scale power projects while partnering with developers, utilities, investors, and financial institutions.

Core Responsibilities
Lead consulting projects from planning through execution while managing scope, schedule, and budget.
Direct multidisciplinary engineering teams and provide technical leadership throughout project delivery.
Develop project execution strategies and review technical reports, studies, and client deliverables.
Prepare proposals and support business development opportunities for consulting engagements.
Build strong client relationships while supporting multiple concurrent projects with a high standard of quality.
Must-Have Experience
15+ years of experience in the power generation industry.
Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and consulting projects.
Owner's Engineer, Independent Engineer, or Design Engineer experience supporting power generation project development and execution.
Top 5 Must-Have Technical Skills
Power generation technologies (Solar, Battery Energy Storage, Wind, and Thermal)
Power project feasibility studies
Project management and consulting execution
Technical due diligence and engineering review
Budget, scope, and project execution management
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (Finance or Economics backgrounds may also be considered).
Preferred Skills
Long-term power supply and transmission planning experience
Project finance or financial modeling for power projects
Knowledge of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), EPC contracts, and asset transfer agreements
Previous consulting experience within the energy or utilities sector
Proposal development and client-facing consulting experience
Work Environment
Hybrid work schedule requiring three days per week in the Chicago office.
Frequent collaboration with utilities, developers, investors, legal advisors, and financial institutions.
Occasional travel to project locations and client offices.
U.S. work authorization required; sponsorship is not available for this position
