[System Engineer] REMOTE - System Design Engineer - EM Pump

What this role offers:
Location: Remote
Full-Time, Remote, Contract 12 months, high likelihood of extension based on performance/job needs
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Salary Range: $69-$115

Responsibilities:

Own the design, fabrication, and operational support of a submersible electromagnetic pump (or alternative pump designs) for an advanced nuclear reactor's sodium processing system

Develop and apply thermohydraulic and magnetohydrodynamic modeling to inform pump design, integrating results into the plant's steady-state and transient process models

Support prototype lab testing, propose additional qualification testing programs, and oversee test execution and reporting

Perform or integrate structural, seismic, thermal, and pipe stress analyses in accordance with ASME BPVC and B31.3

Create and manage engineering drawing packages, design specifications, and system design descriptions

Provide technical oversight of suppliers delivering pump and system components, ensuring on-time, quality delivery

Interface with mechanical, I&C, civil, and nuclear engineering disciplines to align system design and performance requirements

Support licensing activities tied to Safety Analysis Reports and participate in design reviews

Qualifications:

B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; 10+ years of direct experience with electromagnetic pumps

Deep understanding of electromagnetic pumps in liquid metal environments, including thermodynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, and heat transfer

Expert-level COMSOL Multiphysics and MATLAB experience
CFD/FEA experience on complex components; working knowledge of Aspen HYSYS Plus

Experience with piping systems, P&IDs, and design codes (ASME, BPVC, API)

Experience working to quality standards such as ASME NQA-1, AS9100, or ISO 9001

Supplier/contractor coordination and oversight experience

Prior nuclear reactor or nuclear process system design experience highly desired
