Contract Engineer – Design Changes / Standard Design Process (SDP)

System One is seeking an experienced Contract Engineer – Design Changes / Standard Design Process (SDP) to support commercial nuclear power plant engineering projects. This role is responsible for developing engineering design change packages, supporting Balance of Plant (BOP) evaluations, resolving technical issues, and ensuring compliance with nuclear engineering processes and industry standards.

Responsibilities:

Develop engineering design change packages using the Standard Design Process (SDP) and plant-specific engineering procedures.
Support engineering evaluations and technical reports for U.S. nuclear power uprates within Balance of Plant (BOP) systems.
Resolve technical issues for operating nuclear power plants, with potential support for advanced reactor technologies.
Perform engineering analysis, design evaluations, and system assessments.
Apply ASME, ANSI, and applicable engineering codes and standards.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural engineering teams.
Ensure work is completed within project scope, schedule, and budget.
Lead technical problem-solving efforts and mentor junior engineers.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Civil, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
10+ years of engineering experience.
Commercial nuclear power or power generation experience.
Experience developing engineering design change packages and supporting plant modifications.
Strong understanding of engineering codes and standards, including ASME and ANSI.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with the Standard Design Process (SDP) or similar engineering change processes.
Balance of Plant (BOP) engineering experience.
Experience supporting power uprates and advanced reactor technologies.
Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical projects.
