Senior Civil Designer
The Civil Designer is responsible for preparing detailed civil engineering designs, plans, and construction documents for a variety of projects including land development, public works, transportation, and infrastructure improvements. This role works closely with project managers and engineers to develop design solutions from concept through construction. Depending on experience, the Civil Designer may also lead design efforts, mentor junior staff, and assist in managing CAD standards and quality control

Reports to Civil Project Manager
Position Status:- Hourly, Full-time, Non Exempt
Location:- Houston or College Station, Texas

Key Responsibilities
Prepare civil construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Develop site layouts including grading, drainage, paving, and utility plans.
Create alignments, profiles, surfaces, and pipe networks.
Design stormwater systems including detention/retention ponds and drainage infrastructure.
Perform cut/fill calculations, quantity takeoffs, and earthwork analysis.
Prepare roadway plans, traffic control layouts, and related design elements.
Incorporate survey data, as-builts, and geotechnical information into design plans
Coordinate with engineers, architects, and other disciplines to ensure design accuracy
Conduct quality reviews of models and documentation for accuracy and consistency.
Participate in project coordination meetings, support project deliverables, and occasionally visit construction sites to verify conditions and resolve field issues. Support development and maintenance of CAD standards and templates Mentors and trains civil interns, EITs, and drafters on AutoCAD Civil 3D processes and best practices Uphold Core Values by intentionally training and supporting team members in CAD workflows and promoting a culture of quality and service.

Technical Expertise
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Works independently with limited input and guidance from PMs or design engineers on entire drawing production and design in AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare construction drawings
Ability to create: surfaces, profiles, cross-sections, pipe networks, and drainage areas
Familiarity with local, state, and municipal design standards and permitting processes
Understanding of QA/QC procedures and design review processes

Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience with Civil 3D focused on land development or site design projects
Associate degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field
Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D including site grading, drainage design, stormwater management, detention design, plan & profiles, pipe networks, pressure networks, and corridors.
Experience with delegating drafting tasks to civil interns, EITs, or drafters to facilitate drawing completion
Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
Client-service orientation with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Additional Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Autodesk Certified Professional in AutoCAD for Civil Design
Experience with land development, public works, or transportation projects
Experience developing CAD standards, templates, and standard details
Prior experience mentoring or training junior designers or EITs
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary projects (architectural, structural, MEP, etc.)

Working Conditions
Based in Houston, or College Station, with a flexible work environment and schedule.

Must meet access and safety requirements for Federal medical/defense facilities; valid driver’s license and ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE).
