Electrical Design Engineer
Work Location: Full Time on Site, New Mexico
Duration: 11+ months
Rate: is open and non-exempt
Hours: Full time / 40 hours (onsite)
Per diem: $178.00/day (7 days per week)
Mob / Demob: $750.00 each way ($1,500.00 total)
Trip Home: 1 paid trip home per month

Position Details/Scope of Work:
Summary
The ideal candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and modification of facility electrical systems and components, supporting their long-term reliability and performance,
Primary Functions
• Design and develop electrical components and systems using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar tools) and engineering principles
• Create detailed schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, specifications, and documentation
• Conduct analysis and testing of designs to ensure performance, reliability, and safety
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical designs with other systems and components
• Participate in testing and validation of electrical designs
• Evaluate and select materials, components, and suppliers for electrical systems (e.g., switchgear, panels, cabling, instrumentation)
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and standards
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards for electrical engineering (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE)
• Support operations and maintenance teams with technical guidance and troubleshooting
• Maintain accurate records of design iterations, test results, and project documentation
Education/Experience Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
• Proven experience in electrical design and engineering, preferably in a related industry
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SKM PowerTools, or similar tools
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, power distribution, and control systems
• Experience with simulation and analysis tools for electrical designs (e.g., load flow, short circuit/arc flash studies)
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (NEC, IEEE, NFPA)
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) License obtained by accredited examination
• 5-6 years of related work experience: of which 2 years' experience is in a nuclear facility
