Senior Structural Project Manager
The Senior Structural Project Manager at H2B leads multidisciplinary building projects for our federal healthcare and defense clients (e.g., VA, USACE, Air Force). From planning through construction closeout, this role will own scope, schedule, budget, provide technical direction, seal structural deliverables, and develop their teammates. This role blends structural design expertise with leadership skills that align with our company culture and core values.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute multiple large/complex projects; define WBS, budgets, schedules, and staffing plans.
Lead multidiscipline coordination (Arch/MEP/Fire/Civil/Specialty) and facilitate milestone reviews (35/65/95/IFC).
Direct production in Revit and complete structural analysis in RISA; set modeling standards, views/sheets, and model QA workflows.
Stamp structural documents; ensure conformance with IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318/301, AISC 360/341, TMS 402/602, UFC/UFGS as applicable.
Oversee contractor submittals, RFIs, ASIs, change orders, and field observations; resolve site issues rapidly.
Primary client interface for scope/fee negotiations, risk and change management, and satisfaction.
Support capture and proposals (SOQs, scopes, level-of-effort, interview coaching); represent H2B at VA/Federal conferences and professional societies.
Technical Expertise
Serve as structural SME for complex systems (steel, concrete, CMU, foundations, lateral/diaphragm systems), progressive collapse checks, anchorage, and connections.
Lead and coordinate blast resistant design and AT/FP criteria (e.g., UFC 3?340?02, ASCE 59) with specialty consultants. Drive internal standards, detail libraries, calculation templates, and lessons Learned to reduce rework.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (with structural emphasis)
Preferred SE license; active PE in Texas (or ability to obtain)
Preferred NCEES Record (or ability to acquire quickly)
12–18+ years of experience, 8+ years leading multidiscipline building projects; demonstrated success delivering Federal/healthcare projects on time and within budget.
Proficiency managing projects produced in Revit (review Level) and RISA (analysis/design).
Mastery of IBC/ASCE 7/ACI/AISC; familiarity with UFC/UFGS for Federal work.
Excellent written/oral communication; ability to successfully facilitate meetings, write concise narratives, and present to executive stakeholders.
Additional Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Blast design and/or coordination experience (UFC 334002, ASCE 59) or direct work with blast consultants.
Experience with VA Technical Information Library (TIL) criteria and Federal acquisition environment (FAR/IDIQ task orders).
Working knowledge of RISA Connection, Tekla Tedds (or equivalent), RAM/ETABS/SAP for special cases.
Experience mentoring and developing PMs/PEs; establishing QA/QC checklists and BIM standards.
Working Conditions
In-office role at Houston office with flexible work environment and schedule.
Occasional site visits, client meetings, and out of town travel.
Must meet access and safety requirements for Federal medical/defense facilities; valid driver’s license and ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE).
Candidates must have work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship by the company, either currently or in the future.
