I&C Designer – Nuclear Power Plant

Position Overview

We are seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer to support design activities and plant modifications within a nuclear power generating facility. The I&C Designer will work with engineering and project personnel to develop, revise, and maintain drawings and design documentation associated with plant instrumentation, control systems, and related equipment.

The position will support the preparation of Plant Design Change Packages, Design Change Notices, Bills of Materials, drawings, and construction packages for new installations, equipment replacements, modifications, and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and revise I&C design drawings supporting plant modifications, equipment installations, replacements, and repairs.
  • Assist engineers with the development and preparation of I&C project designs and drawings.
  • Prepare and support Plant Design Change Packages and associated design documentation.
  • Develop Design Change Notices, Bills of Materials, and construction packages.
  • Gather, organize, and review engineering information from existing plant drawings and design documentation.
  • Participate in plant walk-downs to verify existing equipment and field conditions and gather information required to complete designs.
  • Develop and modify design documentation associated with plant instrumentation and control systems.
  • Review existing drawings and configuration documents and incorporate approved plant modifications.
  • Ensure design configuration documents conform to applicable design parameters.
  • Support design activities associated with new I&C equipment installations and changes to existing plant systems.
  • Assist with identifying material and equipment requirements and provide input to project cost estimates.
  • Provide design guidance, design reviews, and technical support for I&C modifications and repairs.
  • Work with engineers and project personnel to address design issues identified during project development and implementation.
  • Support preparation of manpower estimates, project schedules, construction packages, costs, and project status reports.
  • Maintain accurate design documentation throughout the development and implementation of plant modifications.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of two years of college or technical school coursework in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), a technical discipline, or equivalent.
  • Relevant design experience, preferably involving Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) systems and equipment.
  • Ability to develop, review, and modify technical drawings and design documentation.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with engineers and other project personnel.
  • Strong PC skills within a Windows environment.
