Position: Senior Training Specialist

Position Overview
EGS is seeking an experienced Senior Training Specialist to support training development and delivery at the Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, SC. This position will have a specialized focus on rigging, mobile crane operations, scaffold construction and inspection, and material-handling equipment.

Under limited supervision, the Senior Training Specialist will perform instructional support activities including the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of training programs and materials. The selected candidate will use effective instructional methods to provide personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their jobs safely and competently.

The role requires significant involvement in identifying training needs, developing and revising curriculum, delivering classroom instruction, conducting performance evaluations, assessing training effectiveness, and ensuring training materials comply with applicable DOE, SRS, and industry requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Training Development & Instruction
Analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain training programs and materials.
Present training in a variety of instructional settings.
Monitor and promote trainee achievement of established learning objectives.
Conduct trainee evaluations and remediation.
Develop and revise training materials based on student and instructor feedback and changes to equipment, procedures, policies, practices, and other technical information.
Develop instructional objectives based on required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Establish appropriate instructional sequencing, training methods, and training settings.
Develop test items and other evaluation instruments designed to accurately measure trainee performance.
Provide guidance to training personnel regarding instructor skills and training processes.
Rigging, Crane & Scaffold Training
Develop revisions to Scaffold Construction Training.
Implement Scaffold Construction classroom training.
Conduct Scaffold Construction performance evaluations.
Develop revisions to Scaffold Shift Inspection Training.
Work with KPMD to develop a new Tele Tower video addressing erection and dismantling.
Revise Competent Person for Scaffold Shift Inspection Training.
Conduct train-the-trainer instruction for Competent Person for Scaffold Shift Inspection.
Revise Incidental Rigging Training.
Conduct train-the-trainer instruction for Incidental Rigging.
Revise Advanced Incidental Rigging Training.
Conduct train-the-trainer instruction for Advanced Incidental Rigging.
As time permits, assist with developing JPMs for new material-handling equipment and revising JPMs for existing equipment.
Curriculum & Training Program Development
Conduct needs, job, and task analyses for assigned training projects.
Develop and maintain task-to-training matrices.
Develop Training Program Descriptions (TPDs) for assigned programs.
Apply a systematic approach to training development and evaluation.
Develop measurably effective training materials using information supplied by Subject Matter Experts, procedures, technical documents, and other applicable sources.
Evaluate instructional materials for compliance, adequacy, completeness, accuracy, and effectiveness.
Maintain familiarity with task-to-training analysis and curriculum development methodologies.
Training Evaluation & Compliance
Evaluate training materials for compliance with DOE O 426.2, SRS Manual 4B, industry standards, and good practices.
Conduct training program assessments and Management Field Observations (MFOs).
Perform evaluations of training effectiveness, including end-of-course evaluations and analysis of examination results.
Respond to internal and external audit and surveillance reports involving training activities.
Develop responses and corrective actions (STAR) addressing identified findings and track items through timely closure.
Remain current within assigned technical areas and continually enhance applicable knowledge and skills.
Training Administration
Maintain accurate training records and files, including rosters, examinations, and transmittals.
Provide training status updates to management.
Support training administration activities and applicable electronic training forms.
Navigate applicable SRS training systems, including TRAIN/AQM.
Support the administration of assigned training programs.
May serve in a lead capacity for a limited subject area or training program and be accountable for training results.
May serve as a Subcontract Technical Representative, coordinating subcontract personnel, budgeting, man-hour accounting, and work accomplishment.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following education/experience combinations:

BS/BA Degree + 4 years of relevant experience in education or the field being instructed; OR
Associate's Degree + 8 years of relevant experience in education or the field being instructed; OR
High School Diploma/GED + 12 years of relevant experience in education or the field being instructed; OR
High School Diploma/GED + 10 years of SRS facility operations experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of specialized experience as a qualified/certified Rigger or Mobile Crane Operator.
Substantial expertise and working knowledge of rigging and crane operations, standards, and practices.
Proficiency in curriculum development.
Familiarity with task-to-training analysis.
Familiarity with applicable Federal Laws, DOE Orders, and SRS policies governing training and rigging/crane equipment operations.
Working knowledge of TM90-7, The Site Hoisting and Rigging Manual.
Knowledge of SRS Learning Management System (LMS).
Knowledge of assigned lessons, concepts, and applications associated with rigging and crane equipment operations.
Ability to identify causes of deficiencies in trainee performance.
Ability to demonstrate exemplary performance of tasks within the discipline and evaluate student performance of those tasks.
Currently qualified or able to qualify as an instructor in accordance with SRS Manual 4B.
Strong organizational skills.
BS/BA degree preferred.
Two or more years of training and/or education experience preferred.
