Sr. Structural Engineer (Hybrid)
Location: Candidates can work in Charlotte, NC; Stonington, CT; San Antonio, TX
Estimated Duration of Work Assignment: 12 months (potential to extend)
Pay Rate: Not Defined / need Candidate's requested rate
Hours: Standard work week 40 hrs, project may require 10-20 hours OT as needed
Expenses: GSA Expenses for Site or Corporate travel

Project/Work Scope: The Sr. Structural Engineer will support power plant construction, plant modifications, and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will lead engineering activities, including layout and control, verifying compliance with engineering plans, and supporting the installation of structural elements. This position requires advanced technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and close collaboration with project teams and client personnel to resolve complex field issues while upholding nuclear quality and safety standards. Responsibilities include - Lead planning, design support, and permitting for civil engineering and infrastructure work on nuclear upgrade and modification projects; Conduct and oversee site visits to verify that field work aligns with design specifications, blueprints, and nuclear quality requirements; Prepare, review, and modify engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, schedules, cost estimates, and design packages using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related software; Establish and verify survey control; lay out secondary control points for critical elements such as columns, walls, and structural foundations; Analyze reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, test data, and aerial photographs to evaluate characteristics and conditions; Identify and implement improved methods that enhance efficiency, quality, and field execution on nuclear sites; Apply advanced engineering principles and mathematics to resolve complex field and design challenges; and Collaborate with and provide technical guidance to project teams and other disciplines to ensure successful project execution.

Experience/Educational Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university, with a minimum 10 years of Site Civil Engineering experience. Professional Engineer License highly preferred.
• AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency.
• Experience with grading and Earthwork site design.
• Experience with stormwater drainage analysis utilizing Autodesk Storm & Sanitary Analysis (SSA).
• Environmental Permitting knowledge (NPDES, wetlands, 404, Phase 1 ESA).
• Site layout experience (parking, access, roadways, ADA compatibility).
• Experience with Roadway / Paving design & specifications.
• Surveying knowledge (topographical, boundary, plats, coordinate systems).
• Geotechnical knowledge (sitework prep, roadway / heavy haul paving design) Security gate / fencing design.
• Excellent Communication and Presentation Skills (Verbal and Written).
• Must posses authorization to work in the USA for any employer without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.


Physical Requirements: Y - May be required to obtain/maintain unescorted nuclear facility access; pass security screening and drug testing; perform equipment/system walkdowns in industrial environments (including climbing ladders, elevated areas, confined/controlled spaces); work overtime as needed; travel periodically to client/project sites.
