Procurement Engineer

A Procurement Engineer is responsible for overseeing the procurement process for critical materials and services needed in the nuclear enrichment facility, ensuring the acquisition of high-quality products from qualified suppliers while adhering to strict regulatory requirements, by identifying potential vendors, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and closely monitoring quality and delivery timelines, all while prioritizing cost-effectiveness and compliance with the company's safety and operational standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and Supplier Evaluation:
    1. Identify and qualify potential suppliers for specialized nuclear materials, equipment, and services, conducting thorough market research to assess supplier capabilities and compliance with industry regulations. 
    1. Evaluate supplier proposals based on price, quality, delivery timeframes, technical specifications, and past performance to select the most suitable vendors. 
  • Contract Negotiation:
    1. Develop and negotiate detailed procurement contracts with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms regarding pricing, payment schedules, delivery timelines, and warranty provisions. 
    1. Incorporate specific quality control measures and acceptance criteria into contracts to maintain high standards. 
  • Procurement Planning:
    1. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management teams to identify procurement needs, develop procurement strategies, and create detailed purchasing plans aligned with project timelines. 
    1. Analyze purchase requisitions to ensure accuracy and compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Supplier Performance Management:
    1. Monitor supplier performance against contractual obligations, including delivery schedules, quality standards, and pricing. 
    1. Address any supplier performance issues promptly and implement corrective actions as necessary. 
  • Quality Assurance:
    1. Ensure procured materials and services meet stringent quality standards and comply with all relevant nuclear regulatory requirements. 
    1. Conduct quality inspections and audits at supplier facilities as needed. 
  • Cost Optimization:
    1. Implement cost-saving initiatives through supplier negotiations, identifying opportunities to leverage volume discounts and alternative sourcing options. 
    1. Analyze market trends and identify potential cost reduction strategies. 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or related field)
  • Strong understanding of nuclear industry regulations and quality standards
  • Proven experience in procurement, contract negotiation, and supplier management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in procurement software and data analysis tools 

    ***Pay: $90-$100 per hour PLUS $167 per day in Per Diem (Approximately $61,000 annually in per diem)
