Principal Quality Control Engineer – Electrical / I&C Inspector
Location: Savannah River Site – Aiken, SC
Position Title: Principal Quality Control Engineer - Electrical / I&C Inspector
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week
Clearance: DOE Q Clearance Required / Must Be Able to Obtain and Maintain DOE Q
Position Overview
EGS is seeking an experienced Principal Quality Control Engineer – Electrical / I&C Inspector to support construction and project activities at the Savannah River Site.
This position will provide Quality Control support with a specific focus on Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) activities. Responsibilities include developing and reviewing Quality Control Inspection Plans, performing field inspections, documenting inspection results, reviewing materials and equipment for compliance, and issuing Non-Conformance Reports when required.
The position also provides Quality Control support to construction management and requires coordination with other construction departments to ensure work complies with applicable site specifications and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical & I&C Quality Control
Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to Electrical and I&C activities.
Develop inspection plans in accordance with applicable Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards.
Perform field inspections in accordance with approved Quality Control Inspection Plans.
Document inspection results on applicable inspection records.
Issue Non-Conformance Reports as required.
Review product and process compliance with specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements.
Inspect and/or review supplied materials and equipment for compliance with applicable requirements.
Quality Control & Construction Support
Provide Quality Control support to construction management.
Support implementation of project quality requirements and accurately status inspection results.
Establish priorities supporting construction and operations needs.
Resolve complex problems encountered during implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments.
Coordinate Quality Control activities with other construction departments to ensure construction complies with site specifications and standards.
Prepare Quality Control procedures supporting proper inspection, testing, and surveillance activities.
Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities.
Quality Program & Subcontractor Oversight
Participate in contract discussions related to quality activities.
Review and approve subcontractor quality procedures.
Monitor subcontractor adherence to approved quality procedures.
Support effective quality training programs.
Ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform their assigned tasks.
Foster a work environment promoting safety, quality, openness, trust, communication, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
Leadership & Coordination
Supervise and direct Quality Control Engineers assigned to inspections and surveillance supporting project and/or maintenance activities.
Coordinate activities of assigned Quality Control Engineers.
Provide leadership supporting efficient performance, safe work habits, timely exchange of information, and compliance with site policies.
Prepare performance evaluations for assigned personnel.
Job Requirements

Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following combinations:
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline + 8–10 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas; OR
Associate's degree + 10–12 years of practical experience; OR
High school diploma + 12–16 years of practical experience.
Certification in areas of responsibility is required, with ongoing programmatic training in accordance with project quality program requirements.
Required Experience & Skills
Prior work experience working under an ASME NQA-1 Quality Program.
Prior DOE work experience.
Well-developed organizational skills.
Well-developed supervisory skills.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to foster a work environment promoting safety, quality, openness, trust, communication, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications
Practical field experience in Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Quality Control within the last 16 months.
Candidates who have possessed an active DOE L or Q clearance within the past two years are preferred.
