Position Overview
EGS is seeking an experienced Business Systems Communications Lead (Communications Specialist 4) to support a major, multiyear business transformation initiative at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The Business Management Directorate is replacing its legacy ERP business system with a modern enterprise platform utilizing SAP S/4HANA. The transformation is intended to improve workflows, unify processes and data, integrate customized applications across organizations, and support more efficient, data-driven operations.

The Communications Lead will oversee and develop strategic and tactical communications supporting the organizational change management component of this transformation. Working closely with the Program Change Manager, this individual will serve as a communications advisor to project leadership, workstream leads, system integrator partners, engagement teams, internal partner organizations, and external stakeholders.

The intake call emphasized that the customer is specifically seeking candidates with transformational experience, preferably technology transformation, and would prefer experience with SAP S/4HANA or similar enterprise systems. DOE experience is not considered as important as enterprise/business systems transformation experience.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications & Transformation
Develop and manage strategic and tactical communications supporting a major enterprise business systems transformation.
Lead communications planning across multiple project workstreams.
Develop, execute, and deploy communications implementation strategies.
Help project teams anticipate communication needs throughout the transformation.
Develop communications designed to engage employees Lab-wide during transition to the new system.
Maintain consistent messaging throughout the program.
Ensure employees receive clear and timely information regarding upcoming changes, potential impacts, and available support for the transition.
Support communications that help prepare employees for adoption of the new enterprise platform.
Organizational Change Communications
Work in tandem with the Program Change Manager.
Support the organizational change management component of the ERP transformation.
Develop communications supporting employee adoption and engagement.
Support communications across a multi-functional, large-scale business transformation.
Develop content, including newsletters, supporting organizational change and employee engagement.
Coordinate communication activities across multiple functional and organizational groups.
Communications Leadership & Coordination
Serve as a key communications advisor to:
Project leadership
Workstream leads
System integrator partners
Engagement teams
Internal partner organizations
External stakeholders
Coordinate the efforts of Laboratory multimedia staff.
Collaborate with functional team members and organizational business communications personnel.
Maintain communication protocols across the program team.
Support content development for employees, managers, and other internal stakeholders.
Manage communications products developed by consultants embedded throughout Laboratory organizations. The intake call identified approximately 10 consultants in these embedded roles.
Communications Planning & Execution
Assess communication challenges and develop appropriate strategies.
Create and execute multi-channel communication campaigns designed to achieve specific and measurable goals.
Apply project-management experience to communications supporting large, enterprise-wide initiatives.
Work as a trusted communications partner to leadership.
Write and edit communications for a variety of internal audiences and channels.
Apply strong knowledge of English grammar and punctuation.
Executive Communications
Work directly with executive-level leaders on communications projects and products.
Capture an executive's individual communication "voice."
Develop executive communications materials, including quotes and correspondence.
Produce executive-level communications without significant oversight.
Web-Based & Multimedia Communications
Strategically integrate multimedia into communication campaigns.
Utilize photos, video, and graphics to reach targeted audiences and support campaign objectives.
Coordinate with multimedia personnel in support of communications initiatives.
Develop content appropriate for multiple communications channels.
AI & Technology Skills
Candidates must possess:

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word.
Baseline understanding of generative AI tools.
Understanding of prompt engineering.
Ability to evaluate AI-generated content for accuracy and quality.
Ability to apply AI responsibly within organizational policies.

Job Requirements

Required Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in:
English
Journalism
Communications
Physical science
Life science
Social science
Minimum 12 years of relevant experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation may also be considered.

Experience leading and coordinating cross-functional teams with diverse skillsets and organizational backgrounds in support of key business objectives is helpful.

Desired Qualifications
Business Transformation & Change Management
Experience with organizational change management principles.
Experience developing communications supporting employee adoption and engagement.
Experience supporting multi-functional, large-scale business transformation projects.
SAP S/4HANA transformation experience is particularly desired.
Enterprise platform/business systems transformation experience.
Experience developing newsletters and other communications supporting organizational change.
Industry Experience
Experience working within a national laboratory or other large government organization.
Experience with procedures and other process/policy documents related to facility operations.
Ability to recognize and coordinate responses involving potential third-party relationships affected by the project.
The intake discussion specifically clarified that DOE experience is not as important as enterprise, business systems, and transformation experience.

Security Requirements
DOE Q clearance is required for the position.
Candidates do not need to possess the Q clearance at the time of submission; the ability to obtain the clearance is acceptable.
Candidates with a Top Secret (TS) clearance may also be considered because of its potential conversion.
Clearance eligibility is identified as a deal breaker for candidate consideration.
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid position supporting Santa Fe and Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Candidate should live within two hours of the Laboratory.
The majority of onsite work is expected to occur in Santa Fe, with occasional work in Los Alamos.
Current expectation is a minimum of two days onsite per week, probably three.
Onsite availability expectations are considered high.
