ProSidian Seeks a On-Call Industrial Hygiene Technician - Construction/Industrial Hygiene (IH103) as an Engagement Team Member generally located across the Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina supporting Environmental Management Sector requirements to support an engagement for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRMC]) at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy..

JOB OVERVIEW

Provide services and support as an Construction/Industrial Hygiene Functional Area On-Call Industrial Hygiene Technician (IH103) under Labor Category: On-Call Industrial Hygiene Technician at Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina. On-Call Industrial Hygiene Technician - Construction/Industrial Hygiene (IH103) work collaboratively as part of the ProSidian Engagement Team as Non-Exempt W2: 1.5X Overtime Eligible personnel. Dedicated Planned Labor Hours (DPLH) of 1250 Straight Time (ST) Estimated Annual Quantity (Hrs. Per Yr.) | 0 Overtime Time (OT) Estimated Annual Quantity (Hrs. Per Yr.). This as a Contract Contingent or Contract W-2 (IRS-1099) Position and ProSidian reserves the right to convert to a Full-Time ProSidian employed W-2 Position. The role(s) are located at Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina with identified Work Site Address (121 Richland Ave E, Aiken, SC 29801, USA), providing Construction/Industrial Hygiene functions working to provide BOA Support Services for multiple department requirement Service Areas (SA) for Savannah River Remediation LLC (The SRMC/LW Contractor) at the U.S. Department of Energy | Savannah River Site (DOE-SRS) in Aiken, SC to support the evolving needs of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES - On-Call Industrial Hygiene Technician - Construction/Industrial Hygiene (IH103)

Provide on-call Industrial Hygiene Field Technician support for Kiewit's construction activities at DOE-SRS. Conduct field evaluations for heat strain, chemicals, dusts, fumes, noise, and other physical or chemical hazards. Perform personal breathing-zone and area monitoring for respirable crystalline silica, total dust, welding fumes, stainless-steel welding constituents, metals, and hexavalent chromium as directed.
Kiewit is supporting Savannah River Nuclear Solutions as a construction subcontractor on the High-Fidelity Training and Operations Center. The project converts an existing 103,000-square-foot facility into a non-nuclear training environment supporting the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility. Kiewit’s work includes demolition, interior and exterior modifications, ventilation, gas and electrical systems, laboratories, utility systems, installation and commissioning of production-line equipment, and balance-of-plant equipment. The approximately $1.4 billion subproject is scheduled for completion in 2028. Kiewit also reports establishing an SRNS presence in 2024 through Task Order No. 1 supporting the broader plutonium-processing project.
Conduct personal noise dosimetry and area sound-level surveys during demolition, cutting, drilling, grinding, fabrication, welding, equipment installation, and powered-tool work. Select and prepare sampling media; pre- and post-calibrate pumps and instruments; attach personal samplers; verify flow and pump operation during the shift; document employee, task, material, control, location, duration, weather, and PPE information; and respond to field conditions that could invalidate a sample.
Prepare chain-of-custody documentation, preserve samples, and deliver or ship media to the designated laboratory. Maintain sampling, calibration, custody, and shipment records. Prepare field summaries and technical reports; communicate conditions, issues, and results professionally to workers, supervision, management, the Industrial Hygienist/CIH, and other stakeholders.
Support follow-up monitoring when work methods, materials, engineering controls, crews, shifts, or exposure conditions change. Comply with Federal, State, Company, project, and Site requirements and escalate conditions requiring CIH interpretation or corrective action.
Qualifications
Desired Qualifications For On-Call Industrial Hygiene Technician - Construction/Industrial Hygiene (IH103) (IH103) Candidates:

Current SRS badge and applicable site qualifications, subject to confirmation of sponsor, training currency, access, and work-zone authorization. At least three years of hands-on On-Call Industrial Hygiene Technician or field-sampling experience, with demonstrated personal air sampling, pump calibration, media handling, chain-of-custody, laboratory-shipment, noise-dosimetry, and field-documentation experience.
Working knowledge of industrial hygiene exposure-assessment principles and applicable OSHA/NIOSH sampling practices. Experience with respirable silica, total dust, construction noise, welding fumes, stainless-steel welding, metals, and hexavalent chromium is preferred. Ability to recognize when different hazards require different media and analytical methods.
Operational knowledge of computer databases and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to work independently in active construction areas, coordinate with craft and supervision, wear required PPE, follow work controls, and maintain professional treatment of worker-exposure information.

Education / Experience Requirements / Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience pathway 1: Three or more years of On-Call Industrial Hygiene Technician, occupational exposure-monitoring, or comparable field-sampling experience.
Experience pathway 2: Five or more years troubleshooting or repairing mechanical equipment or electronics, accompanied by documented industrial hygiene sampling training and demonstrated competency with pumps, instruments, media, calibration, documentation, and chain of custody.
Current SRS badge is required for the intended rapid-mobilization model; badge status alone does not confirm sponsor, training currency, project-area access, or Contractor-Controlled Construction Zone authorization. Specific certifications, medical qualifications, citizenship/security conditions, and required training modules are TBD pending task-order and Site confirmation.
