Description: K&M Advisors is a technical and financial advisory firm that has been a leader and a pioneer on the development of power generation projects for 30 years. During this time, K&M has been the lead advisor on 19 Independent Power Producer (IPP) transactions that reached financial closure. Some of these were the first IPP transactions in the host countries which led the way in introducing private participation and pioneering project-finance structures for power projects—examples include: Hub Power (Pakistan 1,200 MW), Phu My 2.2 (Vietnam 715 MW), Mamonal (Colombia 100 MW), and many others. Since its foundation, K&M has offered rigorous and practical advice on the engineering of power generation projects. The firm has been responsible for EPC procurement, design review, site-based construction supervision, and technical due diligence of more than 45 power generation projects with a total capacity in excess of 15,000 MW. K&M has also been involved in power project development, initially through its sister company KMR Power, and now through its parent company, the Dorado Group.
K&M is looking for a candidate who can join as a Manager on K&M’s Technical Services team. K&M invites qualified candidates who are interested in working on diverse and challenging assignments (including transaction advisory, due diligence, owner’s engineer, and other engagements) for private, government, and multilateral clients. As a Manager with K&M, the successful candidate would also work with a multidisciplinary team (including finance experts, economists, lawyers, and others) across continents, including traveling internationally as needed. This position offers opportunities to gain hands-on project experience by working closely with seasoned engineers, applying and expanding technical knowledge and skills, and being a part of a dynamic and fast-growing team.
The Manager’s duties will include:
•Conceptual design of power plants
•Design document review
•Drafting and/or review of technical sections of Power Purchase Agreements, EPC Contracts, and other contracts associated with IPP projects
•Providing necessary home office technical support to site engineers
•Conducting power project due diligence reviews and writing due diligence reports
•Writing marketing documents, including expressions of interests, proposals, and others.
The candidate should have the following minimum qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
•Minimum of 10 years of experience working in power plant design, power plant development, and/or engineering consulting
•Expertise in either mechanical, electrical, or I&C engineering disciplines
•Good general understanding of different power generating technologies and familiarity with all mechanical, electrical, and I&C systems and equipment typically comprising an integrated power generation facility
•Willingness to travel overseas for short-term assignments (up to 2 weeks)
•Excellent oral and written English
•Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
•Good interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with high-level foreign executives and government officials
Preference will be given to candidates with:
•Fluency in Spanish or French
•Experience working in emerging markets
•Familiarity with IPP contractual structures and ability to understand and interpret Power Purchase Agreements, EPC and O&M Contracts, Fuel Supply Agreements, and other contracts and agreements typically associated with the development and implementation of IPPs
•Familiarity with renewable technologies.
