Job Overview:

Electrical Wiring Designers are expected to be able to work with clients and Engineers on designs. They must demonstrate proficiency and the ability to work independently with infrequent validation. Senior Wiring Designers at this level monitor personal performance and operate with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
• Maintain consistency with project standards (e.g., general notes, cell libraries, symbology)
• Coordinate internally with other disciplines and externally with suppliers
• Direct and supervise activities of Drafters and junior Designers
• Demonstrate familiarity with commonly applied design criteria
• Gather supporting documents and information as needed to support design activities
• Read and understand the electrical wiring portions of the EPC contract
• Review and comment on vendor drawings
• Review and check design deliverables independently
• Generate design deliverables using policies, procedures, codes, and standards
• Execute the design using a broad range of software and tools
• Travel to jobsite and participate in walkdowns and provide construction support
• Troubleshoot/resolve field and implementation issues
• Participate in equipment inspections and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
• Perform short-term field assignments
• Obtain project cell libraries to ensure consistent CAD implementation
• Produce electrical wiring diagrams utilizing P&IDs, block diagrams, vendor drawings, and verbal direction
• Obtain vendor drawings as needed to develop wiring diagrams
• Implement corporate standards related to wiring methods and NEMA conductor color codes
• Select and/or verify/modify cable type and size selections in accordance with corporate or project specific standards, and identify additional cable requirements as necessary
• Enter cable size, type, and estimated lengths into cable management software as required by wiring diagrams
• Apply consistent shield grounding requirements per project requirements with minimal direction
• Specify material requirements (e.g., relays, terminal blocks)
• Produce physical arrangement drawings defining location of components within equipment
• Produce electrical one-line drawings utilizing engineering input
• Determine appropriate scale and breakpoints of one-line drawings
• Ensure consistent symbology on one-line drawings
• Produce metering and protection drawings utilizing one-line drawings
• Determine appropriate scale and breakpoints of metering and protection drawings
• Ensure consistent symbology on metering and protection drawings
• Obtain component equipment protection vendor information (e.g., protection
• Produce three-line drawings utilizing metering and protection drawings
• Determine appropriate scale and breakpoints of three-line drawings
• Ensure consistent symbology on three-line drawings

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in electrical wiring design
• Demonstrate knowledge of Combined Cycle Power Plant experience.
• Be familiar with applicable industry standards
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
• Preferred software skills SPEL, GSN Tech, and Microstation
