Position Summary (Must have Union Fossil experience)
Responsible for the successful oversight of all project(s) construction obligations and implementation of the craft/labor agreements at assigned project(s).
Serves as the Project Manager, is responsible for executing all work in accordance with the duties described for PM.
Serves as the principal contact to the customer for higher level purchase order/release issues and strategic project business development opportunities.
Relationships with local labor officials are being managed effectively, either through Project Manager (when applicable) or directly.
Internal and external industry knowledge and best practices are maintained and improved through continuous learning and development.
Know and understand the elements of the proposal and resulting purchase order/release.
Oversee the migration of those elements into an effective mobilization/transition plan that will facilitate the execution of the work.
Elements of the plan include development of the mobilization/transition schedule and resource ramp histograms and an establishment of the onsite organization that may include Safety, Project Controls, Field Accounting, Field Engineering / Planning and Quality (depending on the size of the work and contract specifications).
Facilitate the development of the customer communication plan.
Ensure relationships are built with local labor so project kick off meetings are effective and to establish the tripartite process.
Facilitate the writing of the project/site (multiple projects) safety plan(s).
Depending on the size of the work, initiate the Project Support Team (PST) concept, kick off the first series of meetings with the PST, and continue to lead the coordination and interface with the project team(s).
Facilitate the Project organization in identifying customer processes and integrating them to the extent possible with D&Z project controls and planning processes to ensure the project provided will meet purchase order/release obligations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the evaluation and assessment of the current schedules for the online and upcoming outage projects and support.
Director of Projects in determining the organizational approach (i.e., manpower needs) to meet customer project requirements.
Ensure the PST is being integrated into the overall planning process as it relates to outage project execution Ensure D&Z core programs such as the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) tool and Project Execution Tools (PET) are being integrated into the overall planning process as it relates to outage and online project execution.
Perform gap analysis between Customer and D&Z programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Capable of following D&Z processes and procedures and utilization of developed tools to most effectively manage the work.
Able to coach site management on the use of these tools and holds them accountable for implementation.
Can discern and implement process change management and improvement using industry recognized continuous improvement program(s).
Capable of being the process owner for the continuous improvement culture for the assigned contracts.
Can share best practices and continuous improvement opportunities across the organization.
Can effectively communicate (both verbally and in written form) with all levels of management, supervision and craft.
Effectively identifies key players and builds high performing teams.
Capable of effectively managing own time and time of other's.
Engages support from Labor Relations, HR and Staffing when necessary.
Is able to identify talent in projects organization and develops that talent by making deliberate changes in assignments.
Mentors others to grow talent.
Requires minimal Director or VP-level coaching when challenging or unique situations arise, but seeks guidance when needed.
Highly skilled at influencing others to improve project and contract outcomes and
Capable of providing input for a succession planning model that maintains a defense in depth for position evolutions.
Minimum Education and Experience
Degree in Construction Management, or related field, or relevant exp.
