Some of these positions start immediately, some of the positions are long term, and some will be seasonal and short term.
As a Technician or Specialist, you should meet most of the following criteria. (For Valve Specialists/Technicians, scroll down).
1.) Certificate or Degree from an Instrumentation School or an equivalent Instrumentation Apprentice Program.
2.) Instrument and/or Analyzer experience in a heavy industrial environment, preferably Refinery or Petro-Chemical.
3.) Work history that shows a willingness to work long term assignments.
4.) Ability to prove proficiency in Instrumentation through both a written test and a hands-on evaluation focusing on the following:
**Basic Instrumentation principles including calculating the LRV and URV of level instruments.
**Understanding and ability to troubleshoot pneumatic instruments.
**Basic electronic circuits and understanding of both Analog and Fieldbus Instrumentation.
**Understanding and troubleshooting of a broad range of flow instruments such as; DP, Magnetic, Vortex, **Ultrasonic, Turbine, Coriolis and Thermal.
**Understanding and troubleshooting of a broad range of level instruments such as; Displacement, **Ultrasonic, Radar, Magnetorestrictive and Hydrostatic.
**Understanding and troubleshooting of RTD's, Thermocouples, and Thermistors.
**Understanding and troubleshooting of a wide variety of control valves such as; Fisher, Masoneilan, Valtek and Bettis.
**Understanding and troubleshooting of Vibration Monitoring Systems.
**Ability to read P&ID's, Loop Sheets and Schematics.
5.) Experience with DeltaV and/or Yokogawa DCS systems.
Control Valve Technician
Job duties will include:
1.) Performing valve signatures and making recommendations for repair.
2.) Rebuild actuators (piston and diaphragm), replace valve trim, replace packing, set actuator bench set, couple actuator to the valve stem, install, replace, repair, or calibrate positioners, calibrate or replace I/P's, replace SS tubing as needed, remove and/or install limit switches, understand setups with pneumatic quick exhausts, boosters, trip relays, etc.
3.) Should have a background in Instrumentation or Mechanical as well as have some official training.
Willingness to work weekends or even an evening shift when needed.
Willingness to work overtime when emergency jobs arise or during turnarounds.
Must use Good Documentation Practices.
Must focus on Human Performance to prevent mistakes.
Must be safety conscious.
Must be willing to climb.
Hourly position with time and half paid after 40 hours. ( Pay based on experience and qualifications.)
2 weeks paid vacation.
7 paid holidays.
