Technical Writer position available in Houston, TX.
MUST have valid TWIC card
MUST have 5+ years tech writing with hands-on field experience in a refinery or chemical setting.
Analyzer and instrumentation is required.
Overview of job responsibilities are as follows: Translate technical designs into training documentation; specific segments and end to end documentation. Assist in reviewing and documenting clear requirements which will enable the technical document development. Strong at developing documentation.
Develop and maintain installation, configuration, and how-to documentation for end-user.
Manage multiple assignments simultaneously, while working independently and with other content developers.
As an integral part of cross-functional product teams, this person must learn the products by hands-on experience.
Confer with subject matter experts and project managers to establish technical specifications and to determine material to be developed for publication.
Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, methods of reproduction and binding.
Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
Study drawings, specifications, mock ups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence.
Observe production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail.
Arrange for typing, duplication, and distribution of material.
Work with the business to identify the job changes which occur as part of new functionality and work with the OpT 4 Excellence team to inform and close the gap.
Strong analytical skills, as well as technical or business writing experience.
Experience with instrumentation and analytical equipment.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Experience writing documentation such as procedures and training manuals.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Visio) and graphics software.
Professional appearance and executive presence as a training consultant.
Has sound organizational, analytical and conceptual skills.
Ability to plan coordinated objectives.
