We are seeking an Environmental / Civil Engineer in Melville, NY to support projects in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area.
This is a mid-level opportunity for a dynamic individual looking for career growth in consulting. Candidates must work well in both team settings and independently and support a strong health and safety workplace. The successful candidate will be able to serve as an intermediary between upper level staff and junior staff. The position requires a mechanical aptitude and strong working knowledge of and an educational background in soil and groundwater remediation design, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, troubleshooting, and construction principles, as well as sound organization and written and verbal communication skills.?
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop design plans and specifications for a variety of environmental engineering projects such as site/remedial investigation and characterization studies, feasibility studies, conceptual design, pilot testing, remedial design, contracting, construction management and remedial system operation and maintenance.
Direct and conduct field data acquisition.
Review regulations and standards to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work. ∑ Prepare and/or modify reports, construction schedules, and cost estimates.
Apply engineering principles to develop effective solutions.
May oversee construction activities at project site in support of construction management tasks and/or design-build projects.
Perform civil/mechanical/environmental engineering design work such as development of process and instrumentation diagrams, engineering calculations, and standard operating procedures.
Perform task management including financial and budgetary management.
Assist in development of proposals and budgets for potential work.
Travel is required (approximately 20%).
4+ years of relevant Environmental experience required
Bachelorís degree in Civil, Mechanical and/or Environmental Engineering
Large projects experience
Knowledge of remediation design
6-10 years of experience preferred
Masterís Degree Civil/Mechanical/Environmental Engineering
New York State Professional Engineer License
Experience with programs: AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project
Current OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training
Mechanical design experience preferred
Familiarity with Groundwater treatment systems (including air strippers and GAC units), conveyance piping systems (piping, pumps, valves, etc), and ability to coordinate with other trades (primarily electrical and controls)
Experience developing an fully integrated design package
